Old news, but can anyone provide examples of this?

I'm not a big fan of Sage, but the handful of videos from him I did see seemed to be insightful, at least by CA standards.
Sorry, I know I'm late, but I just stumbled upon your post and I figured, better late then never:

Just to give two examples: He reviewed "Lily Cat", which in itself turns out to be somewhat of an "Alien" knockoff, but the beginning of his review got me hooked so I paused the review watched it and continued with his review (I just explain this for context, I was watching both back to back). There's a scene where one of the passengers of the spaceship fires a shotgun and the recoil propels him backwards into a wall. In the anime, the captain of said spaceship explains right thereafter that the recoil of the gun is different on the spaceship than on earth, cause they only have artificial gravity (which is weaker than on earth).
Sage, on the other hand, ignored the captain's explanation (conveniently cutting off the scene) and criticised in a drawn out scene that "Recoil doesn't work that way", when -in fact- the show never said it did in the first place.

Another notable example is a scene from Akira, where Kaneda and Kei are talking about Tetsuo. Basically, Tetsuo is slowly turning into a Telekinesis-using mutant that's growing more powerful by the day. So in that conversation, Kei likens Tetsuo's behaviour in relation to his powers as akin to that of an Amoeba (ie: He's trying to consume as much nutrients around himself as possible and spreading his own sphere of influence). However Sage completely goes into spergout-mode pretending Kei said "Tetsuo's power is like that of an amoeba". Not only is he ignoring the fact that if he wants to criticise that dialogue at all, he shouldn't point his finger at the anime but rather the company that localized it but also he's completely misrepresenting what's going on.

Then there's stuff like criticising the OVA "Iria" for being the spin-off of a really unpopular horror flic that noone ever watched and then, a sentence later, having the audacity to criticise it for not following the movie close enough. If noone's seen it and noone gives a shit, why bother bringing it up even?

It's really a shame, cause I kinda like Sage. When he's working with something ridiculous like Madbull 34, it's quite enjoyable sometimes.

There was also the Sonic review where he had his buddy, Marc the "Engineer" spergout about how, as a fan, the movie "never happened". He does this while wearing a rubber gas mask with goggles strapped to his scalp while leaning against a wire-frame shelf of autism trying his hardest to look cool. While wearing his glasses.

Can you guess how many copies of the movie you can find on Youtube? In HD?

One of them actually reached four million views in under two years.

What kind of no Scotsman bullshit is he trying to pull saying something so blatantly and provably untrue? Is that Sonic doll they bought off Ebay supposed to be a badge of authority?

I always dislike when Doug and Rob get together to review films. When they speak of someone they don't like they start using the most obnoxious whiniest voice possible. Maybe it's just me but Rob seems more of a dick than Doug.

Let's put this into proper framing:

Really though, if it weren't for Spoony bombing his career for him...

nothing would be different.
Spoony allegedly cost him an interview. Not a job interview, mind you, but an interview for his little radio show that can barely muster up a few hundred views when he's not bitching about Channel Awesome. Angry Joe was there, also acting like a jackass, and his popularity (for some goddamn inexplicable reason) is still intact. This is just another one of those convenient scapegoats LordKat can use to explain why it's not his fault he's a loser.

I've personally never liked Sage in any capacity. His anime reviews are crap, clearly showing bias towards early 90s stuff (even the bad ones mostly come from that era). Barely researched and twisted around to prove points that otherwise would be debunked had he actually watched the damn thing (Leading me to believe that he doesn't watch the shit he reviews either in full, or at all). I've seen the Sonic OVA, and despite its flaws, it's kinda hard to just dismiss it and say "it never happened". Because:

a) it exists, there's nothing Sage and Marc can do about it. Even if they got off their asses to attempt something.
b) was made before an actual canon could be fully fleshed out, hell most animated Sonic media was made during that time period. Which would explain the oddities (Planet Freedom, Knuckles' cool hat, the existence of characters like Old Man Owl and Sara...)

And then his other reviews... Only a few are even remotely decent (like Mad Bull and Angel Cop). Probably the worst I've seen (aside from the infamous Violence Jack cop-out) was that Macross Plus review. It was plodding, long and pretty much could have been done in only one video. About the only good thing about it was seeing the guest stars talk smack to Sage throughout.

And his music reviews, I'd argue that for all the shit he (rightfully) gets, "Todd" Munson is a better reviewer than Sage.

And for some reason, Doug finds it amusing when his brother has a negative reaction to a movie that seems to be the same negative reaction everyone else is having, and then insists on him elaborating on it since it will be "hilarious." I'm usually loathe to compare Siskel & Ebert to the video makers at Channel Awesome since the latter is a group of performance artists masquerading as critics, building their content on the back of a movie, but since this is ostensibly an attempt at straightforward criticism, it comes off as very fucking annoying. It's like if Siskel kept goading Ebert to unload on North.

I personally like that Tidbit.
Spoony was being an exceptional individual over some X-Com game (I think), yelling "Betrayal" and shit like that. The guys that made them game didn't want to make a video with LordKat, so LordKat blames Spoony for his outburst.
Thing is: These guys invited Spoony and Angry Joe to check their game out after they changed it up a bit and made it more like the originals. I think they even said part of their motivation to change their game was Spoonys outburst (which in itself might be an overstatement on their part to flatter Spoony, but still).

So yeah, LordKat blames something on Spoony cause that's more convenient than facing the sad truth that he was and still is a loudmouthed nobody on the internet that game devs have no fucking interest in.

Didn't know that bit about the X-com guys making changes based off Spoony's outburst. Considering those events, this really makes LordKat's claim of being costed an interview with Notch be seen in a skeptical light. Sure, he could of had an interview but that alone would be from being an unknown internet celebrity, especially in comparison to Spoony and others from TGWTG.

Again, if I'm not mistaken, the devs said in a video that to some degree Spoony reaction got them to change stuff a bit, but then again, they might have just blown sugar up Spoonys ass.

The plot is actually an adaptation of Sonic CD. Sarah is a revival of an old idea they didn't go with when they first conceptualized the character; Sonic was originally supposed to have long fangs, have a human girlfriend and be in a band.

Might I add it's funny that they straight up said that Sonic Heroes happened but the movie didn't, mostly because the end boss to Sonic Heroes is a reference to the highway chase scene from the movie:

So I decided to take one for the team and checked out Doug and Joe's Batman V Superman review, and it's pretty much what you'd expect from the clip less reviews. Lots of unfunny skits and it shows that they wanted to get this out as soon as possible to make a quick buck. But I'll give credit where credit is due, they did nail down everything that's wrong with this film which made it a little fun to watch. Maybe I'm just biased since I don't like the film, but this was better then most of the other clip less reviews, but that's not saying a lot since I am talking about the clip less reviews.

I will never watch their clipless reviews. They're worse than Demo Reel.

Doug needs to just start making original content and I don't mean anything like Demo Reel. Demo Reel was still a show about nitpicking other people's movies, it had horribly unfunny humor and it was filmed poorly. They need to pay James Rolfe to teach them how to not suck at studio filming, budget their fucking money & how the equipment they do have is meant to be used; I still remember when they had Brad Jones talking into a shotgun mic that was meant to be mounted on cameras when he was standing at a podium.

Also, no, absolutely NO game shows. Nobody wants to watch a scripted reality program & everybody knows that's exactly what he'd do, because that's exactly what he's done. If you're going to use a script for something, make it worthwhile.

Actually, now that I mention it, why did people fund the gameshow anyway? Surely to God they all knew what Demo Reel was like and that Doug was balls out incompetent. He should set up a Patreon given that his fans are retarded enough to continue funding his dumbass.

You actually paid money to watch a Doug Walker production?

Oh hell no, I started that free trial on Vessel and then canceled it after I was done with the video. Excluding the AVGN movie I've never payed any kind of reviewer money to see their product.

That's fair enough then.

Wait wait wait. They're making you pay to see their shitty product now?! It's painful enough watching it for free.

Well it's only if you want to see it a week early, you can see it (not that you'd want to) completely free once It comes out on Channelawesome.com

Oh they're running a premium service now? Smart idea. Idiots will always pay extra money just to feel like a special member of an elite few.
