Sorry, I know I'm late, but I just stumbled upon your post and I figured, better late then never:Old news, but can anyone provide examples of this?
I'm not a big fan of Sage, but the handful of videos from him I did see seemed to be insightful, at least by CA standards.
Just to give two examples: He reviewed "Lily Cat", which in itself turns out to be somewhat of an "Alien" knockoff, but the beginning of his review got me hooked so I paused the review watched it and continued with his review (I just explain this for context, I was watching both back to back). There's a scene where one of the passengers of the spaceship fires a shotgun and the recoil propels him backwards into a wall. In the anime, the captain of said spaceship explains right thereafter that the recoil of the gun is different on the spaceship than on earth, cause they only have artificial gravity (which is weaker than on earth).
Sage, on the other hand, ignored the captain's explanation (conveniently cutting off the scene) and criticised in a drawn out scene that "Recoil doesn't work that way", when -in fact- the show never said it did in the first place.
Another notable example is a scene from Akira, where Kaneda and Kei are talking about Tetsuo. Basically, Tetsuo is slowly turning into a Telekinesis-using mutant that's growing more powerful by the day. So in that conversation, Kei likens Tetsuo's behaviour in relation to his powers as akin to that of an Amoeba (ie: He's trying to consume as much nutrients around himself as possible and spreading his own sphere of influence). However Sage completely goes into spergout-mode pretending Kei said "Tetsuo's power is like that of an amoeba". Not only is he ignoring the fact that if he wants to criticise that dialogue at all, he shouldn't point his finger at the anime but rather the company that localized it but also he's completely misrepresenting what's going on.
Then there's stuff like criticising the OVA "Iria" for being the spin-off of a really unpopular horror flic that noone ever watched and then, a sentence later, having the audacity to criticise it for not following the movie close enough. If noone's seen it and noone gives a shit, why bother bringing it up even?
It's really a shame, cause I kinda like Sage. When he's working with something ridiculous like Madbull 34, it's quite enjoyable sometimes.
