Andrew Yang planning to launch third party: report

Former Democratic presidential and New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang is planning on launching a third party, two people familiar with the situation told Politico.

Neither the name of the third party nor its plans to impact future elections have been revealed, but it is set to start when Yang’s book is released on Oct. 5, the sources told Politico.

His book, called "Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy,” is promoted to be about moving past the country’s “era of institutional failure,” according to its publisher.

Yang gained national attention when he ran to be the Democratic nominee for the 2020 presidential election, garnering popularity from his promotion of universal basic income.

His presidential nominee run did not get far as he dropped out after the primary in New Hampshire.

After his failed presidential run, Yang ran for mayor of New York City. Early in the race, he was seen as a frontrunner with the amount of support and attention he received.

However, support soon dwindled and Yang ended up dropping out of the race in late June.

“I am not going to be the next mayor of New York City based upon the numbers that have come in tonight,” Yang said at the time.

Yang was a former businessman before entering politics.

The man is a sheepdog like Bernie Sanders. He won't do shit to actually hurt the Democrats.

He is no Chairman.

Shouldn't he just throw his weight behind some "established" third party. Adding yet another isn't going to go well.

Left-leaning independents are not really Independent if they’re still voting for Democrat policies that have not worked in Democrat-run cities, regarding homelessness and crime.

It’d be no more different if the roles were switched and right-leaning Republicans were voting for Republican policies not working in their Republican-run cities

Cringe and I am disappointed in the Yang Gang.
Andrew is clearly not fated to be a successful political leader here on earth. Instead of a political party, he shoukd be planning to launch an international mission to colonize the Alpha Centauri star system. There, he would have free range to test out his social experiments on his followers.

Something tells me a barbell is going to fall on his head before he has the chance to split the gibs vote in 2024.

Yang isn't even big enough to attract Democrat technocrats, he won't even have a spoiler effect. This isn't a parliamentary system where at least he would earn 1-3 seats in the government, it's literally just pissing away money for nothing.

It's a lot easier to grift when you start a new party instead of running as an existing party.

Imagine being so assmad you lost your chance at being the NYC mayor because you bitched about not having enough privacy to write in your two bed apartment in Manhattan that you decide it's time to make your own party with blackjack and hookers.

Really torn on this. On one hand, want to support him just for the sake of having more than two parties. And I like that he talks about real problems like the effects of automation.

On the other hand, despite agreeing with his overall "direction", am hard pressed to find a solution he proposed that will work long-term. Plus he has some dumb opinions on things I like such as guns.

This is of course assuming he's serious and not running a grift.

CNN fucked him during the debates and he went on to be their lapdog for months after. The grift is real.

Ok but does their platform include a recycling tank mandate?

Ultimately that's all any of them are. If you're planning to hurt the Democrats there's already an entire political party set up to help you get rid of them.

But none of these guys are committed enough to harming the Democratic party to become Republicans.

Not for "nothing", he's got a book to sell. How better to sell it than to get all that free advertising!

We had a test run of universal basic income during the Covid lockdowns & look at what it did to the economy. This is the braintrust who would bring you more labor shortages & stagflation.
