Because Deviantart, believe it or not, actually does have some decent artists on there, even though they are about as rare as OPL taking a shower.

Sorry to necro this thread but I found this to be kind of ironic. He picked the Stormcloak faction in Skyrim because he sees himself as a "religiously tolerant guy". This ignores the fact that the Stormcloaks are racial supremacists and nationalists.

If you're going to play a game and pick sides, do it for fun. Social justice reasons are such a waste of time.

Old reply, but it's probably not uncommon, seeing as how when I first started to use Photoshop I got a lot of advice to use one or two layers and color on lineart. I tried that a few times and it was awful. At least I ignored the advice to shade (and highlight) using just dodge and burn.

"Act professional like me kids! Take a shit load of time on commissions and have them turn out sub par!"
 
Every word this guy says makes me cringe. If I remember correctly. He and I have a similar degree and fuck does he not understand anything. Every time he gives advice or tries to counter act a decent crit drives me insane. Uuuugggghhh. All of the frustration. >:(
 
A lot of amateur web comic artists seem to think that any criticism is just the work of "Haters!" this is true of Chris even, and many other web comic artists I've seen. I suspect its because they are in a bubble, only paying attention to their fans, and disregarding any negative comments as, "troll" comments, by people who have it out for them. Not listening to criticism is what will guarantee these artists wont improve much, and wont get mainstream success. I'm a comic reader, and most web comics I've checked out are of bad, to mediocre writing quality. The only ones I've really enjoyed were Sonichu, Dominic Deegan (both for the wrong reasons) and Always Raining Here, although that one is more of a guilty pleasure. ARH is a corny romance, but its fun, and has some funny gags, and really cute art. Ok don't let me derail this into the Webcomic thread lol.
