IQ has both genetic and environmental components. Environmental IQ has been rising because we now have a more intellectually stimulating living environment. Genetic IQ has been decreasing, because it is an objective fact that IQ and fertility are inversely correlated. Right now, it seems like the increase in environmental IQ is outpacing the decrease in genetic IQ (hence the net increase or "Flynn effect"), but how can you say that will always be the case?

Yeah, I can't imagine any reason why the FDA would use criteria other than effectiveness to decide which treatments it scienmagistically makes "official".
 
I'm someone who's studied evolution and genetics to degree level. The amount of fallacies and misuses of words like 'phenotype' in @Amud 's posts, is rather cringworthy.

For one thing, genetic degeneration isnt even a real issue outside of inbreeding scenarios. This clearly isnt what Amud is talking about. Secondly the idea that mankind will 'degenerate' through 'promiscious' sex is ludicrous. One thing worth mentioning is that sexual selection by females is driven by many factors. Many women will choose partners based on these characteristics either subconciously or otherwise in order to maximise evolutionary fitness.

These factors include intelligence, parenting ability and immune system compatability.
