Unfortunately, interventions work only if the individuals are willing to accept the offer of help. I think a lot of people have tried. I believe teachers and her foster family have tried to send her to Weight Watchers. Her mother, at the last visit, tried to have her eat less rice, and I am sure other people including doctors have tried to help her. She absolutely refuses to see a psychologist to discuss her issues, and she absolutely refuses to even contemplate restricting her food intake. Amber does not see her weight as a problem; she still believes in the "healthy but big" mantra.
The bigger problem is that all those people enable her. An intervention does no good if enablers keep enabling.
