Yes. Low rise will sit at or below your hips, mid rise are usually between the hips and belly button, and high rise are at the belly button. In the case of death fats, high rise are probably necessary if you want your gunt to be covered by your pants. You could probably get away with mid or low rise if you don't mind your gut hanging over the waist band, and I assume it depends on the fat distribution as to which will work best for the individual death fat in terms of comfort.
