Who is actually more stupid, Al or Becky?

Amber cant speak proper English although its her mother tongue and the only language she knows, she doesnt know a mirror... mirrors the image, cant lie coherently, has gained 40 ellbees since 2017 although she is on a "weight loss journey", cant organize an appointment with a doctor and has not managed to get a diagnosis for years, gets catfished in the current year, believes in chem trails and doesnt understand a simple calorie counting program.
Becky doest realize she is an obviously abusive relationship, she is putting her friendship with the boys on the line for Al, doesnt keep a job, gains weight with Al, to stupid to follow a diet as well, thats all that comes to mind. Now to be fair these are signs of denial and abuse, but she is very immature at 27 and speaks very slowly, appearing very dim all of the time.
Neither of them have an education or any career, but ultimately I think Amber is the more stupid one because Becky is depressed, introverted and in an abusive, toxic relationship which takes a toll on ones mind and probably makes her appear more stupid than she is. That said they are both definetly below average, probably even below an IQ of 90.

I confess that I have put some thunk into this question too.

I eventually arrived at the conclusion that Becky is the dumber of the two, but it is close and what little intelligence either has manifests itself in different ways.

Last month, Becky's big "achievement" (her words, not mine) was to reach level 1000 on a mindlessly repetitive cellphone game. Becky is monosyllabic, and purely a creature of Wal-Mart and rural multiplex culture. Once upon a time, people might have called her "backwoods", suggesting a slowness and dimwittedness.

Amberlynn's peabrain should be donated to science, and her lack of basic intelligence is manifest. However she does have some things going for her. She has at least lived in numerous states; that isn't the same as being well-traveled, but at least is is a kind of life experience. She makes the videos, as awful as they are, which does require at least a basic level of competence. She is clearly the boss of the two, which suggests she is brighter on some level. She can be devious and manipulative, which requires some thinking skills.

I think Amberlynn is profoundly dumb, but her dumbness is compounded by a lack of education beyond middle school (high school was a wash, by her own admission). Given a different set of life circumstances, she might have turned out a dull, average, rural woman and led a normal life. Becky, however, seems like she lacks some raw material needed for intelligence; schooling probably didn't matter in her case. She has that speech impediment too, which isn't necessarily a sign of weak intelligence, but sometimes can be. She lets Amberlynn talk her out of any resolve she has, and she seems to think Amberlynn is smart, perhaps the most damning evidence of stupidity she has.

But what are we doing? It's like looking at turds in a dog park and trying to decide which one looks more appetizing. I think your estimate of IQ is right. I'd put Becky at about 89 (still considered normal, but low), and AL around 91 or 92. That's within the margin of error, so maybe Becky is smarter. Who knows? Neither one is likely to cure cancer.

Its more like exploring the theory of the number 0 and the idea of an ideal vacuum.
That said I dont think Al is much more functional than Becky. Could you imagine her doing her taxes? Is she even paying taxes right now? Because if she doesnt she will get into trouble. She may be the bread winner at this moment, but she definetly is not independent, physical limitations aside. She also isnt manipulative, she tries but she gets found out immedieatly and as I said she is a horrible liar although thats all she does. As mentioned Becky probably appears to be dumber than she is, you should also remember that we see what Al shows us which distorts the image even further because she wants to look better than she really is.
 
They are both profoundly stupid.

Only real difference is, as stated above, appearances: Amber seems to be more willfully ignorant, while Becky seems more "slow".

As far as Beck's speech goes, wasn't it divulged at some point that she'd had an accident that practically ripped her face off or at least that's the exaggeration I can remember. Perhaps that affects her speech? Either way, she's incredibly immature, but I'm not sure that equates to low intelligence. I think she has incredibly low self esteem and no ambition to be anything other than what she currently is. If anything, I think Hambert is more cunning in the sense that she's manipulative AF and knows how to work a situation to her advantage, but you can be low IQ and still capable of that. It's a toss up, but I think intellectually, they're pretty well matched.

I don't think Becky is stupid. I think she's gullible, unmotivated, and overall apathetic. But I think Amberlynn has the lower IQ of the two.

She claims to have watched every episode of the show, but yet doesn't remember any of the episodes with participants who CAN do things for themselves. Not only the basics like bathing themselves, but driving, some are raising kids, doing chores, even some who work or work on and off. Not all episodes are people who are bed bound and can't even wash themselves. She has to know this, if she's that big of a fan of the show.

Amberlynn is.

Amber is ignorant, even in the face of corrections by her gorlfriends. Case in point, anytime Destiny would correct AL's grammar or any "facts" that were incorrect, AL would appear annoyed and continue saying or doing it incorrectly out of sheer willing ignorance and spite. As far as her being a manipulator she learned that early on being raised by two drug addict thieves. She has admitted other druggies would babysit her sometimes while her parents ran out and scored more dope/meth/whatever. Amberlynn has no sesne of self only mimics those around her with what her interests are down to her fake accents. She has no identity; she is merely pretending depending on her company.
For example: with Krystle she was into video games and soft spoken, was keeping clean, lost weight, going out and for the most part driven. (because people were handling her well)

With Destiny she was loud, opinionated and indulgent she did have a job for a bit at the request of Destiny, uncouth, rude, ignorant, lazy and over the top on everything. (because nobody was keeping her in line that well but at least she had some sort of job then)

With Becky who is a total push over she is at her all-time worst, wont leave her home/bed, no job, loud, wont even attempt to bathe or look presentable. Only thing for the better that changes was her horrible (sassy) accent.

Amberlynn is a mimic, nothing more. Amberlynn lacks reading comprehension past junior high school as evidenced by her writing and reading choices. She also has a hard time learning anything she doesn't already know, cannot follow simple directions and also will never conceive of doing something different to yeild a different result than what she is doing.

The fatter she is getting the less intelligent she is getting. She wasn't intelligent ever but it is getting worse over time.


As far as Becky...well, shes a wimp and a doormat, I do not feel she is stupid just gullible with mental issues.

Edit to add: Remember, AL hung out with a 15 year old she deemed her "BFF" and that 15 year old Libby was ahead of her in intelligence by light years.
And she was almost left back in kindergarten.
