I have seen plenty of people drug/DUI/violence their way to a permanent physical disability of all sorts. When most people see a wheelchair or missing limbs they feel bad for the person and assume they must have been victims of whatever happened, but a good % of the time people are directly responsible for their condition. It literally isn't a consideration when you apply for SSDI, those people who have their limbs amputated for sexual fetish reasons would likely still be able to claim benefits. She has no savings and isn't likely to be able to work anywhere because she can't in her physical state, so tug boat is the likely destination. It would be cool if there were a government camp where they made death fat SSDI recipients lose weight until they're able to work again but alas, no such thing exists, so a lot of the people you see on my six hundred pound life are living off tax dollars. The thing that has been the most surprising for me so far with Amber is that she doesn't have a credit card (as far as we know). From the content I've seen online (Americans please correct me if I'm wrong) but most people use credit cards in America for every purchase, and then use their wages to pay off the credit card at the end of the month. In the past couple of years, I encountered 2 (two) deathfats in the wild working ordinary jobs. One was at my doctor's office (actually a big hospital/clinic with many doctors), answering phones, making appointments etc. The other was at the front desk of a big hotel/spa/resort I went to, so same type of tasks, I guess...answering phone, checking guests in and out, letting guests know about activities and so on.

Both of them were *HUGE*, perfectly round gals, both looked to be mid to late 20s. They were both very pleasant, well dressed, and well groomed, seemed competent, etc.

These are sit-down jobs that don't require college degrees, just a pleasant and helpful personality, a decent memory, maybe a knack for finding solutions. This may exclude our gorls Amber and Chantal, but point is, there *are* jobs out there, even for folks who can't run around the block. They don't pay YouTube level money, but enough to live in a studio or with a roommate, and there'd be benefits.

Who am I kidding, even a sit-down job is too much for these two.

For most, it takes over a year and many get denied the first time they apply. She'll be screwed for the lookback when they see all she's made over the last few years. I doubt she has any paper trail with her non-existent primary care physician documenting her disability. If she wants a check every month, she's going to have to work for it.

It is more the exception than the rule to not have a homeless arc when trying to get either SSI or SSDI. You absolutely WILL be denied at least once and likely twice even with medical documentation. It helps to have someone, even if it's not a lawyer, to help navigate the system and help advocate on behalf of the consumer.
