I do not think that it will work with Kristine.

First, Kristine saw how manipulative and needy was when she helped her after the surgery. Second, Kristine has been in prison, survived, and likely saw people far worse than Amber, so her trying to manipulate Kristine would be difficult. Third, Kristine was addicted for years and realises that she was a terrible mother and probably deeply regrets it. However, she will try to stay sober and not go back to her old ways and Amber is not going to push her there. After her visit to Amber, she never came back. At best, I think she tolerates Amber for now.

I think that Jade was the best thing that happened to Amber. Jade has the "saviour complex", but unfortunately came across Amber. Jade pushed Amber to post regularly, every 2 days, to make sure her income would grow. But Amber is beyond the "best before" time and her schtick does not work as much as before. Jade tried to stabilise Amber's health by at least going to regular doctor's visits, but Amber never bothered even going once, hence the bizarre "they lost my file event" which never happened; AMber never registered to this clinic. Finally, Jade pushed Amber to get bariatric surgery, but Amber did not do even the strict minimum. By then, Jade was over Amber.

If she had hooked another carer this summer, she would have not moved. It did not work in Lexington and now is trying to in Oklahoma City. With both Becky and Jade, she was incredibly lucky. I am sure it makes her think that it was easy. I am waiting for her to go on Plenty Of Fish or other dating sites.

Agreed. While I understand that she sees her channel as a way to afford her lifestyle, I think that a lot of the content on her channel is more aimed towards manipulating the people in her physical life - and it was the sole reason for the start of her channel. I mean, a NORMAL person wouldn't humiliate themselves by posting weight loss content of themselves CONSTANTLY failing and growing to the size of a garden shed if they weren't really trying, because it would be humiliating and degrading. I think she started it to try and convince Krystle's parents that she really was trying to lose weight and better herself (when in reality, she was just adding another level to the grift). Then she started getting tons of attention and validation online. And then the money started rolling in. And then the intention of the channel split into both conning her caretakers AND a financial grift.

Given enough time, they will clear their body of the substance (eliminiating physical reliance). Through honest introspection, they can realize that the drug doesn't do anything to help in the short term, is damaging in the long term, and that they don't really *WANT* to use because it's not actually fulfilling the need they have. Still, they know that their addiction is still there, and always will be. The problem is that an addiction at its core is a really strong habit. We can't actually "break" or forget habits. They'll ALWAYS be there as the brain (on a subconscious level) will NEVER forget what a fast, easy, and powerful hit of dopamine the drug was. The best addicts can do is try to replace the bad habit with a better one that gives them what they're looking for. You get rid of the "persons, places, things" that trigger the habit, and you establish new "persons, places, things" to build the replacement habit (examples: excercise, starting a business, running a volunteer program). Even if the new habit sticks, if you start bringing in the old habit elements from the addiction and start taking away the new habit elements, the addict will white-knuckle until they finally relapse (or transfer and develop another negative habit if it's an easy and powerful source of dopamine).

[If anyone reading this is interested about the subject of habit formation - but has no interest in bullshit 12-step/addiction literature - Charles Duhigg wrote a self-improvement book called "The Power of Habit" that's really interesting. And it's even worse, because addicts don't just 'start over' with their addictions. A saying I've heard people use is "When I'm in recovery, my addiction is in the background doing pushups". If the level of destruction of their habit was a 7/10 after 5 years of using, and then they got sober for 10 years and then relapse, it won't take them 5 years to get back to where they were. They'll likely be back at 7/10 within a span of months, and then continue to worsen. Addictions are really nasty shit.

Hopefully (for Kristine's sake), she's seen enough of this to realize how dangerous Amber's behaviour can be to her sobriety. If Kristine has spent any decent amount of time in 12-step programs for her recovery over the years, then she's probably seen more than enough manipulative and predatory addicts to have seen every trick in the book. Also being an addict herself, she would know the playbook inside and out, very likely having inflicted this bullshit on others before. It would also explain what seems to have been the falling out between her and Amber's brother in the posts that @Yeah Just Shut Up archived near the top of this page.

@lol cow supreme It might hit her a little bit harder than that (considering her possible NAFLD), but still, I'm sure Amber having to pee out the additional 2.414L of liquid (and more, as alcohol is a diuretic) would have caused more stress on her body than the actual alcoholic content of the drinks.

agree 1 million % on all points, I am pretty subscribed to her being on a continual fishing expedition to wrangle a carer. She masks it as a girlfriend but everyone knows the truth because Becky blew that cover.

Agree too that Jade is the best thing but to Amber, it was the worst too because she could not exploit her. She was far too self-aware and I think Jade set the boundaries of engagement. I expect she has changed her number and I 1000% suspect she did not give Amber her new address or a fake one. I think all of us have that one ex where we knew it was bad and just cut that fucker off at every avenue and Amber is definitely that person.

I do think if Amber tries to tempt Kristine, her support network will come for Amber hard and ostracize her. Staying sober that long on meth especially is impressive as the relapse rate is very high. Hell even in replacement the common thing is to swap for another drug but she is sober it seems.

I still think her moving to OKC is the worst decision she has made ever because the truth is her family does not like her. She has inserted herself and does not realize they do the thing to avoid narcs, not talk to them. I think Kristine is going to limit her contact personally just because her personality is so draining.

Kiwi Farms has a really bizarre habit of turning every cow’s family members into level headed realists who can see right through bullshit for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I've learned not to get my hopes up with Amber. I don't believe this is the "happiest she's ever been" because she was manic. Amber strikes me as someone who has cyclothymia along with her cluster B fun times.
