She isn't old, and can get out and about with wipey, even if she has to use a scootipuff for the majority of the time. She also isn't black, she's white. It's pretty common in oldies who might not get out much, and even worse if you have dark skin. Even young people that cover up and use sunscreen to avoid cancer/skin ageing can get low Vit D.
The thing is, we only have Amber's side, the doctor could very easily have told her that her numbers are as expected for someone her weight, or are stable for now, and she took that to mean that she was healthy. We see a similar mindset across all the deathfats, where they interpret the information the doctor told them as something different to what they were actually told. There's no way someone her size doesn't have fatty liver or kidney failure to some extent, and both would definitely contribute to low vit D. I agree that vit D is essential post-menopause, but I think also that Amberlynn's body is an absolute clusterfuck and they shouldn't ignore the likelihood that there are things beyond her hysterectomy and lack of sunlight that are contributing to it.Nearly every woman I know post menopause (and Amber is post menopause) has to supplement vitamin d due to deficiency. Estrogen plays a key role in activating vitamin d in the body, so once the ovaries are removed, or cease working, there is every excuse to be deficient regardless of the time spent in sunshine.
Those tests were absolutely run. A standard bariatric panel includes CBC, MBA20, liver function, electrolytes, thyroid function, A1c, iron studies, cholesterol panel, vit D, vitamin B12 at a minimum. Other blood orders tend to be patient dependent, but the ones I listed are standard across the board.
Edit: She's also not been approved for her bariatric surgery, so there's definitely more to the tale than she's willing to tell
