I seem to remember it being hinted at in some of those reddit posts, later revealed to be by Emily, that Amber had broken pictures of her ex around the house. Using that as a peek into how Amber operates my guess is that it was just her terrible disposition, mood, jealousy, and manipulative behavior. Plus, from a normal human perspective, Amber was purely a rebound as Emily wasn't really over the death of her last partner and probably shouldn't have dived head first into another relationship anyway let alone with someone like Amber.

It's not uncommon for Chihuahuas to live a very long time, the upper end of their average life expectancy is actually 16 years, but there are quite a few that make it to 20+. Given that twinkie has multiple periods of obesity it may shorten her lifespan, but compared to Jenna Marbles' chihuahua who is the same age, she looked quite healthy, albeit fat, in her most recent appearance in Amber's videos.

Some sources say 10-14, others say 12-16, either way you slice it Twinkie has already made it to 15 years old in spite of the poor care she has received over the decade hambo has had her. I too have heard rumblings about shit heading towards FatAl's fans. Stuff even more disgusting than her doing the Twist against counter corners.

On reflection, you're quite right. I'm a cat person, so it's easy to assume that anyone with a cat wouldn't do anything actively bad to pets. You can still be bad to pets even when you're not actively harming them. Neglect is still neglect.
