Fair enough. It indeed shows that money is not always the reason for not caring for your pets. Amber's worst thoughtless act was when Twinkie was in pain and she decided to go to a restaurant instead of bringing him to the vet. Unconscionable.

It only makes me hate feds more that they did nothing to save her poor animals. They all have fantastic personalities and just want the love of a caring family. They could have had that easily but animal control decided not liberate the camp.

Also, why do vets not have to report possible abuse the way doctors do with children? Why is it that she can bring in an overweight Twonk with long ass nails and and obvious signs of insufficient care (as well has having a history of AC reports) but have no consequences, yet you bring in a toddler who gets hurt one time with no other signs of abuse and they have to call CPS?
 
Amber has every resource possible to take care of herself and her pets, it's her laziness and selfishness that gets in the way. She barely bathes or brushes herself, she's not going to prioritize the animals grooming or need for clean litter boxes over herself, whom she doesn't take care of either. Just like with herself, she'll throw food at the problem and when shit gets bad expect the ER, or the emergency vet in the pets' cases, to fix the problem. They're all doomed.

I know people really want Amber to be an animal abuser, but long nails and obesity pale in comparison with some of the horrific things people do to animals. The standard for acceptable treatment of domestic animals is so low that bringing one to a veterinarian at all provides plausible deniability for any evidence of substandard care. I would bet that any indications of actual abuse would merit action, but overall, it's the animals who aren't receiving veterinary care who you should worry about.

I also challenge you to find examples of a DCFS report being made on the basis of "a toddler who gets hurt one time with no other signs of abuse". People also really want it to be true that mandated reporters arbitrarily target innocent parents, but in most cases, there is at least some basis for suspicion. For example, the explanation provided for an isolated injury may be enough to raise red flags. The fact that an investigation may uncover no evidence of ongoing abuse doesn't necessarily mean that the report was unfounded.

Ultimately, people care a lot more than children than animals, so the index of suspicion for abuse is much lower when the potential victim is a kid.

I think that Amber' care of her animals is from her lack of knowledge than from being mean to the animals. Amber never learned how to take care of animals. She does not brush her cats because she does not know that they need to be brushed. What is more important is that she does not wants to learn to take care of animals. Amber only knows that love is equal to food. so she excessively feed then and provide treats. Most animals do not need treats.

Literally happened to my best friend, but it's safe to assume I wouldn't be believed and I'd rather not power level hard enough to prove anything.

All I will say is I have a connection with a local DCFS prosecutor who has informed me that my city has a problem with overzealous social workers.

Regardless, I don't think she's an animal abuser. But I also don't think she's fit to own pets. She's more of an animal neglecter, which is bad in its own way.

TL;DR: 529.0lbs. Amber claims to have gotten approved for her apartment 5 minutes after sending the application. Amber moved a bunch of shit around without actually accomplishing anything in regards to packing (she also didn't show it, so it was likely Jade who moved everything when she came over to lug the junk out of the storage unit). Depending on how old the apartment is she may not even fit in several parts of it.
The 70s thru early 90s there weren't many deathfats walking around the US like there are now. Apartments weren't built to accommodate fatties and disabled people.
And.... if she wants to live in a non-luxury apartment in a metro area she's super fucked. Those older apartments were made for yups.
eg. I've been wanting to live where I do for a long time. It's downtown. Visiting friends over the years there were certain spots I just couldn't get through comfortably and had to wait until I lost enough weight to move here and I was half her weight at the time.
Plus side... these Apts are built to withstand it ALL including fires and she won't fall through a floor or wall because everything is Concrete. That will kill her about an older metro apartment too.

I think you've pointed to her reason for wanting new construction. She can't go see the place in person to make sure she can waddle through doorways and such, and she knows newer places have units like hers now that are semi accessible with wider doors and hallways. The "luxury" apartments with the aesthetic she's wanting weren't built with her in mind.
