She was getting bombarded with private messages on twitter from teenagers calling her racist so she apologized (for a second time, she already had apologized for the "black face" like 5 years ago) and left. I saw the last video as a big fuck you to people who are perpetually triggered and looking for something to bitch about, but I watched her for like 10 years and the last year of her videos were painfully obvious that she was walking on eggshells. She knew that anything and everything could be labeled problematic now, so she got out while the gettin' was good, because she's smart.

Also for anybody out there with a long gap in your resume, you were taking care of a sick family member or children or were guardian of some relative's children for awhile. and unless you're fresh out of high school or applying for some job that actually wants to see your high school diploma you have one. Nobody asks for a high school diploma to be shown or checks on it really unless maybe you are that young. This does not work for college degrees though! Nor if your time off was in jail and they do a background check. It's a dog eat dog world out there and you need to put food on the mookbang table and pay the light bill. Go get yourself a job no matter what it takes my fellow Kentuckians and friends.

In general, I agree with this. A little PL, I've hired a lot of people where I work, The best way to not have a gap is to include and state the reason for the gap. If you were not working between say: 2012-2016, just put on your CV the dates and a short description, even if you are looking for an advanced position. A woman, or man, could take 2-3 years for childminding, and this is not seen negatively. I have seen a CV with a gap where the person went on an extended "world discovery" (he went travelling for 2 years).
For Becky, it is not the gap but the lack of both education or experience. The type of job that she could do is rather limited to either a service position (server, cashier, store clerk), a low-level labourer as she did before in Monticello, or perhaps as a care worker in residential care homes. Nonetheless, her potential income would not be much more than the minimum salary for the state.

I watched her too, and at the height of her popularity, she was making loads of money and probably saved most of it. I think that by the time she quit, she had enough of YouTube and wanted to do something else. It shows how difficult it is to have a long career on YouTube if it is your only source of income.

Amber will need to find another way to make money, eventually. Her other social media endeavors haven't been as successful as YouTube so far. But maybe she doesn't plan on living long enough to fade into obscurity.
