Amber knows exactly how to lose weight, seriously. Unfortunately, she absolutely does not want to do any of it. There are two solutions: eat less for a very long time, probably years, or have bariatric surgery. For her to eat a lot less is not really feasible. It is not like someone wanting to lose 10 pounds to fit in a wedding gown. She needs to lose 350 to 400 pounds. No one has this amount of willpower to eat 1,200 to 1,500 calories for years. Amber knows this and instead start one of her numerous "diet" for a week to placate the haters and to show that she is still a weight loss channel. In the end, all is for naught.Learned helplessness. No one ever forced her to act, of her own volition, on anything. Fatass as a kid? They took her to WW. Adult? Krystle's parent gave her an allowance to pal around with their kid, controlled the food, she lost weight. After that? No one to make the rules and force her to comply in one way or another. She simply is never going to do this one her own, because the narc/sociopath part of her is not a responsibility situation type deal thing. It's easier to live in the fantasy that nothing is under her control: not losing weight, mot avoid haydurs by disabling comments or just not fucking reading them. Not sticking to an upload schedule or any diet because "muh mentalz", which are mostly bullshit, but which she also won't take responsibility for by going to therapy (also, ironically, because of the NPD).
I will admit I'm amused by the well-meaning noobs who come in and earnestly talk about Big Al getting better if she would be x, y, and z, apparently not understanding that's like the informercials at 2 AM for the same products, over and over. Nothing changes. Big Al will not change. Ever.
Her other choice is bariatric surgery. Unfortunately for Amber, most bariatric surgeons were not born yesterday, and can easily see her manipulative tendencies. These surgeons know that she did not get to be over 500 pounds by splurging once in a while. They quickly realized that Amber is only interested in a quick-fix procedure that would allow her to eat as much as before. She has said in the past that she will not accept being deprived of any food or food group. Considering that she is a high-risk patient that would not follow any dietary recommendations after the surgery, they declined.
