I enjoy playing the first level or two of BurgerTime, sometimes. But yeah, it always ends up being a nofun grind.

Cooking:

1. Is an essential life skill
2. Saves you money
3. Allows people who can't art to be creative
4. Makes you more attractive to the opposite sex
5. You get delicious food to eat at the end

Cooking games:

1. Makes you autistic
2. Costs you money
3. Limits creativity to the parameters of the game
4. Autism is not an attractive quality
5. No delicious food at the end, and now you're an autist

Here is an illustration for reference, in case you have already been turned into an autist by a cooking game:

The first cooking mama was great and taught me how to make proper fried rice (the secret was eggs)

I haven't played many cooking games. But my intense hate of making poffins may have something to do with that. I always burned them. The curry cooking in Sword/Shield is just poffins with a different name. I suck at that too. I do like making weird sandwiches in Violet though.

I haven't played any specifically about cooking, but I usually hate cooking in games because it's just tedium like crafting is.
Exactly, some of the cooking in games is basically acquiring healing items with extra steps. It's the same reason why monsters will just drop currency when they die instead of dragging a bunch of corpses to the one person who will buy them.

Yeah, there's a few exceptions like Paper Mario, but once it gets complicated I'm checked out.

I remember making tons of rotten sashimi in Star Ocean 2 when bored. I was never able to make Chisato's favorite food because it's bugged. Can't fruit sandwich.

IDK if it's bugged or not, but it feels impossible to get the highest grade recipes successfully in Tokyo Xanadu. I'm not a Trophy hunter anymore, and this kind of shit is why, Platinum is always locked behind literal busywork.
