So I played a little of it before bed and it's basically Alien L4D with some RPG mechanics and a very basic custom character creation. Each class requires leveling, you level your weapons, unlock modifications and cosmetics for them, etc.

The gameplay for me was very smooth, I had a stable 60 FPS on my 1070 and I only noticed a couple drops when it got really, really busy. The game has no text chat or VOIP (???? why the fuck not???) which is unfortunate because I went into match making immediately and got at least one idiot during the missions. Can't comment on AI because I didn't play solo. The sound design is meh. It's not terrible but not great. Gameplay mechanics were alright though. The levels do feel samey but then again it's a corridor shooter. The challenge cards actually do make things interesting and some of them give you bonuses at the end of the round. You can also find little caches during a level for mod parts, consumables, emotes, etc.

I only got to play a couple hours but I enjoyed it a lot. Overall it's nothing we've not seen before, just with an Aliens skin.

AI is simple, they'll both pick the generic marine class, launch grenades sometimes and rubberband with the player. Yeah, to me this seems like a competent shooter, nothing stands out but if you can get 3 people to corridor shoot with it might be fun.
It's better than Colonial Marines, I'll say that much.

Played through the first campaign with randoms(on ps5), its fine. Its not spectacular, but it certainly isn't terrible.

I guess on consoles there is voice chat. I was communicating fairly frequently, although there isn't too much in the way of tactics. Perhaps that changes a bit at higher difficulties.

I played the technician which seemed fairly useful. Got through the 1st campaign in a little over an hour.

I really think this game is designed around hour long pick up games. Anything more and it becomes a bit repetitive.

7 out of 10 is pretty spot on to be honest. But, it also depends if you like horde shooters or not.

I've played the 3 parts of the first mission with random people, it's not bad. While there is no text chat, you can at least ping stuff.
A FOV slider would be nice too.

wasn't that sorta Aliens Online a billion years ago?
Yeahhh but this one doesn't look like it's trying to rip off Doom. I've actually been quite enjoying it. I wish Technician got guns that had actual range though.

Been playing it on a base PS4, there has been frame drops a few times seemingly at random (no hordes or enemies on screen) and there was a complete freeze for maybe 3 seconds at one point for seemingly no reason.

Biggest problem for me at least is there are a fair amount of weird sound bugs, from gun noises not stopping after firing to robotting to sound disappearing altogether.

Apart from that it's been pretty enjoyable so far with randoms.

keep in mind "isn't that sorta Aliens Online" is like those reviews of Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee where they said "this is basically just that old neo geo game with the godzilla license, as such it is the best godzilla game ever"

Sir, it was King of the Monsters and it was a damn good game.

It's kind of mediocre.
yeah I recall from 20ish years ago and the dawn of NeoGeo emulation it was like, some weird mashup of beat-em-up then the stage ended with more like the first game?
I def recall a "I see what you're doing, but this shit ain't working" vibe.

I mean, it tried something new. It just wasn't great. The Genesis port is interesting because it's an entirely different game that plays like a more traditional fighting game like the first one and you can play as all of the monsters.

Has anyone unlocked the Recon class yet?

Maybe I missed something but is there a way to recharge the medic ability?

Picking up medikits as a medic will give you some charge for the heal machine but it's only a small amount.

I was planning to main medic but honestly doesn't seem worth it currently because of that.
