Also, waitasecond, if the Predators captured the Viking, the Samurai and the Airman on their ship does this mean the Predators have access to time manipulation tech? Can they go back in time or did they grab these people and put them in crysoleep for several hundred years?

I took it as they had them in cyrosleep not time-travel.
I mean, I'm nitpicking but they grabbed these fierce warriors and stick 'em in a cube for hundreds of years just waiting for that one righteous moment? I dunno. I dunno. It stretches the premise of intergalactic hunters of man a little too thin, doncha' think?

This idea was repurposed from Predators; they were clearly preserved in stasis since they chose to change up how Predators work. Dutch in earlier scripts was supposed to appear in the place of the guy who hid in the crashed ship. He also aged because he was defrosted for a hunt, and managed to escape and hide on their preserve planet for years.

TBF I know AvP2: Primal Hunt showed they did have some form of stasis tech, which probably came from one of the comics.

I just don't really give much interest in whatever retarded Ready Player 1 Warriors through History bullshit they're planning to dump on me. Because that's what the capturing them is supposed to do.

yeah I'll admit I'm sorta dim about Predator extended universe, I can't even spell Uhh-Haa-Yaah or whatever
but the idea of "you're super prey, we'll capture you" seems bullshit
I like the AvP comics idea of "well shit, guess you're hardcore enough to roll with us. wanna come with?"

The interest of W-Y in the movies wasn't particularly bioweapons, was it? More here is this incredible creature that has limitless possibilities for exploitation, it can survive in vacuum, it's incredibly tough and resilient physically in general, maybe we can make new combat armor and power suits by reverse engineering its biology etc. Get humanity in on the biomechanical game. Maybe I'm remembering wrong idk. In the comics and novels W-Y and its competitors seem way more interested in stuff like alien 'royal jelly' that gets you high af, unfeeling to pain, faster, stronger (while also driving you insane)

The first film has the remaining members of the Nostromo suspect and hypothesize that the company wants it for their bioweapons division due to their experiences with it by this point. Not entirely out of the blue if you factor in the character backstories each member had, given that Dallas, Parker, and Brett are all war vets from the Torrin Prime Civil War, and the monster casually dissected them. However, they could not know for sure, this was just a hypothesis.

Burke confirms it, but also that's from his point of view as the director of the Company's Special Projects division. That makes him essentially a pretty decent sized fish in the absolutely huge company, but even with that title he was still just a junior executive. He's essentially a go-fer for the other company branches and he does a lot of bitch work for the execs. Essentially see that title as him being a prospective to become a leader in the company, but still at a mid-level position.

With that knowledge in mind, this explains why he did all this shit under the table. He was given enough power to be able to make calls himself, and he also was extremely hungry to make it to where he's a proper exec. He saw potential in the asset based on Ripley's report, and then gets good confirmation data if unintentional on this thing's abilities when he saw what the hell it did to Hadley's Hope. He wasn't just thinking of a bonus, he was seeing this thing as his ticket to getting the big chair, and possibly the job of an exec he may dislike.

The comics and spin-off shit just runs with it though since fuck thinking about this sort of thing.

day without xeno xip is like a day without sunshine, brother

more Welcome To Erf teasers:
they probably should have put this shot out sooner. throw in a couple of neon green mohawks and it'd start looking like a live-action Dark Horse panel:
NoAlienIsIllegal.webp
given the title of the last teaser, maybe a band of synthetics will play a version of the Stabbing Westward song, but with Alien screeches mixed in. cue the soyface and "it's just like Music of the Spears!" posts on /r/lv426.

How come they haven't made a show about the colonial marines? They could have them do so many things. Bug stomping, rebel stomping, civilian stomping. Not just xenomorph stomping.

I used to own a dozen or more of the Aliens, Predator, and AvP Dark Horse novels as well as many of the comics. I always thought that Aliens Berserker would have made for a really cool movie. Who wouldn't want to see a MAX suit wasting entire hives of Xenomorphs?

Venom destroying an alien with irony from the inside out.

They need to symbiote vs alien movie.

Eddie Venom was totally my main jam for edgy stupid 90s shit
but I don't recall, did they ever address symbiote being strong or weak against acid?
seems like it could dodge globs of acid but bursting through it seems a stretch?

Shitkicker >>>>> MAX

In the current Avengers vs Aliens run.

Venom was able to eat a face hugger as it jumped on Miles Spiderman and absorbed it. Also stopped the impregnation.
yeah but I mean historically, iirc it's weak to fire and sonics, so acid/chemical attacks seem like they should have come up at some point so there's a baseline to complain about if the comic book is STUPID and WRONG

And then the franchise buttfucked itself with Alien 3 killing off Kyle Reese and the young girl.
It's a horror franchise. The fact that Hicks, Newt, and Ripley all die is fitting. The lack of explanation for how the eggs got onto the ship is poor writing. It really only makes sense if Bishop somehow hid them and allowed the humans to get infected on purpose. Ridley Scott had Shaw die off screen so he clearly doesn't mind removing characters that way either.

But everything with Alien 3 was just sloppy. I still laugh at them leaving that terrible shot of Michael Bishop getting hit with a pipe and his face hanging off of his body proving he was human because he bleeds. But the prosthetic makes it look like his entire face and jaw are smashed off of his body and only an android could have survived.
Aliens was a perfect movie with a good set of actors.
Aliens has tons of garbage aspects. The Queen looks horrible moving in some scenes as you can tell it's just being pushed on a cart. The soldier Xenomorphs are clearly underpaid stuntmen walking in a rubber costume and look amateurish. "Get away from her you bitch!" is one of the lamest girlboss moments in movie history. Meant for faggots in movie theaters to clap to while shoveling popcorn into their mouths.
