i'd argue a culture where you can walk around with a knife and people DON'T assume you're a criminal, is better than one where they do
if i saw someone like that at a supermarket, like some of the ones i'd work in, i'd assume they're from the deli and forgot their uniform (i've worked in places where i was told i'd be fired if i didn't wear the uniform, yet someone forgot and i never ended up getting one and nobody gave a shit lol) or are just, idk, carrying a tool around, maybe to cut open a box of office supplies

instant paranoia is not a good sign
it's good survival tactics, yes... but not a good sign...

I know Wally World is a wacky place, but I still feel like having stockers walking around with long kitchen knives for cutting is something even they wouldn't do, and someone taking the knives out of the kitchen would set off hundreds of alarm bells. I work at a small butcher shop where most of the cutters just wear sweatshirts, but I’d still know something was wrong if someone in casual clothes was brandishing a long knife in the retail area.

Edit just to further explain how much of a fucking dipshit you are: no employee in a grocery store walks around with a fucking butchers knife to open boxes. You'd have a store branded, or generic, box cutter. No butcher/deli worker would walk around the store lazily swinging the knife by their side, aimlessly wadnering the store. And no employee just "forgets" to wear the uniform they're mandated to wear every single fucking day. And even in the rare event of this happening, you wouldn't show up to work in some dingey t shirt and fucking spandex pants.

It honestly surprises me that police HAVENT turned into white supremacist death squads by now. I especially like it when a city gives millions of dollars to the families of career criminals who die in the commission of a crime, like somehow that piece of shit was going to make millions of dollars in their lifestyle rather than just leech out them and the government.
