America's music has always been influenced by the gutural poors strife gospel late and classical (1800s-1900s)
The main reason jazz music was considered black. Besides, most of the musicians being so was because it wasn't seen as acceptable amongst polite society to be anywhere near a jazzed up gin joint.
Aren't church hymn harmonies pretty much all based on Bach? I'm not huge into music history but that was always my understanding, so gospel music is appropriating European culture (using their rules, I don't give a shit).

This woman was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on her first try, and I haven’t listened to this album in years.

Update on 2 previous posts I made, thing is this teenager wasn't identified at first due to being a minor but I unconsciously and correctly assumed it was a black person.

I remember watching a documentary on that some years ago. Apparently, Gospel has its roots in Welsh choral music/hymns. Of course, there was some black actor/activist asking 'why are they trying to take this [i.e. the credit for 'inventing' gospel] away from us', because historical accuracy and musicology are white supremacy, obviously (he didn't actually say the last bit btw, because this was a few years BCY [before current year]). In any case, of course gospel is all based on European harmonic traditions anyway, so the claim that those magical negroes simply conjured it into existence from nothing using the power of melanin was always bullshit.

Eh, like any other answer it depends. Presbyterians, for example have a lot of Scottish melodies since their denomination was founded there. Additionally, a lot of music (not catholic) was written in the '70s when Christianity peaked in the US.

Well more or less bach canonized a lot of what we would deem as modern hymnals, but there's a host of tradition and legacy composers and conductors that followed in his pursuits as well as many before him. Even blues can be seen as a more derelict form of Spanish guitar. Mixing a traditional European peasant folks sound with some guttural negro. Like most things in America it's something old made new again. On the subject of Elvis. He may have been a lot of things, but one of them was definitely talented and way beyond many of his contemporaries.

Thanks, when I studied harmony it was going through Bach's 4-part choral stuff. Those hymns went to Britain and were merged with Welsh and Scottish melodies, then came to America where the churches that Blacks were acculturated to had those tunes, so they picked up the concept and made it less palatable and more histrionic with it's over the top ornamentation? Is that a good summary?

Is there harmony in native African music? I'm totally ignorant and asking an inncoent question - I don't know anything beyond Fela Kuti who's awesome but it's a lot of unison over rhythms, the singing and all that. Same with Indian music, just more voices singing the same notes rather than harmony.

African music is rhythmic not harmonious in nature. Jazz is a mordern example of rhythmic motion and over the harmony. Oftenn notes just jump and scatter with Burst of energy

Niggers do unspeakable things to their children and wonder why when they grow up they react to normal things with extreme amounts of violence.

Speaking of black fathers, father of the year award is in the mail for this guy right here. His 12 year old son was killed after stealing a car and starting a gunfight with the vehicle owner, after the own tracked down the stolen car. In classic nigger fashion, he doesn't blame himself for his son being involved in GTA and shootouts nope, its clearly the fault of the man who owned the car. The father even had the had the idea to petition a law made to prevent people from attempting to retrieve stolen property in the future, named after his dead useless son, of-course.

Nigger gets mad she didn't get enough microphone time during graduation, so she steals the microphone from elderly woman to re-announce herself. Supposedly she has an only fans, I've been trying REALLY hard to find out what the degree was in but, I'm betting money the only fans in going to go to more use than that degree.

This is more about the reaction of the white guy.

Homeless African American threatens a White guy and his family with a knife in a public park and threatens to kill one of them.
White guy calls the cops which then results in the Black Guy getting arrested.
White guy then approaches the cops and nearly starts crying because the guy who threatened him with a knife is getting arrested and says
Now he's going to think I'm doing this because I'm white and he's black
