I have seen the not-entirely unreasonable theory holding that X did serve a function: to scare Whitey into accepting King's far more moderate programme.

Radicals are always useful in creating support for moderates.

I could see that being the case yeah. But also America was like 90% white when the civil rights movement started so Malcolm X's "SHIEEET WE NEED TO TAKE UP ARMS AGAINST WHITEY AND GET OURS!" was never going to win in a million years. It could work in 95% black south Africa but not 1960s America.

Fun fact even the Chinese contractors who are in African countries like Nigeria attempting to bring a modicum of civilization with them are getting fucking sick of the natives not maintaining the infrastructure they erect. These people can’t build or maintain anything of cultural significance or value without outside countries flocking to their aid.

Call me racist but that area of the world being a hotbed for disease has done wonders to the African brain.

It's simply because they don't have to because some other foreign asshole always (eventually) shows up to rebuild it anyway. It's fucking ridiculous -- left to their own devices, they live in mud huts, invent nothing, and just ... exist. It was still one of the most incredible revelations to me in my entire lifetime knowing they never invented so much as a wheel, because they've never needed to do anything to survive that having a wheel would have made easier or feasible.

We should just dump them all back there and rope the continent off until they kill each other, then go back for the resources. And keep the chains on the leftovers this time ffs.

That's another interesting revelation. If you check the geography, they are naturally kind of roped off. The sub-Saharan cultures did not independently invent or utilize sail technology capable of tacking against the wind, a prerequisite for crossing the Atlantic or Indian Oceans. Can they even get out of there now without Somalis stealing a tanker or something?

They constitute a substantial portion of blacks in the military, particularly among commissioned and noncommissioned officers, from a tradition that dates to before the US Civil War.

What he calls "house Negroes" are much better represented in Washington DC and Chicago. Some of them are literal descendents of house Negroes owned by the founding fathers. They are Democrats who are fabulously wealthy and who own what is in the Beltway. Many of them are contractors for the US federal government and are quite unscrupulous. These are the sort of people Oprah Winfrey kicks back with.
