There was a horrifying case in New Orleans a while back where a gang of youths, 3 of them girls, skipped school to go wilding and went out to suburban Metairie, which is a pretty nice area, saw an old white lady in her car at a gas station and decided to steal her car. So they opened the driver's door and pulled her out, except her arm got caught in the seatbelt. They drove off anyway, and dragged her until she lost body parts and came free. They were caught and, of course, showed no remorse. It was that old bitch's fault, after all.

from what i understand it's one of those "by a technicality" rulings, usually either a result of a highly unconventional situation, like some event where the attempt to harm wouldn't normally kill someone but the unforeseen circumstances at the moment could result in their death and thus manslaughter.... - like in this instance, where the actual attempt was to steal a car and by chance the woman got caught in it, and had things been worse, she could've died, but she didn't. they didn't plan to kill her, but there was also no accident- it COULD'VE been manslaughter, but it didn't come to fruition

that, or it was attempted murder and they just called it something else to put on the logs because the judge ruled to lower the severity of the charges

in this case i could see it being either or
