I'm going to go ahead and bump this thread up since Spirit of Justice comes out in the US next week. Really enjoyed the demo and am looking forward to playing the full game :powerlevel: especially since this will be the first AA game I'll be able to buy day one:powerlevel:

Same here. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation by then.

SoJ was fun. Looking forward to see how the western team localized it.

Shit what it's already out?? I thought it was later. Fuck. I still need to finish replaying the rest of the series before I play it. Except for the part where I'm still on Justice for All lmao

I'm two cases in so far.

It's certainly an improvement over DD! The cases actually require some thought. Heard the third case takes like six hours, though, but I also heard it's real good so I'm intrigued.

Case 5 is... pretty long. Case 4, like usual is pretty short.

I thought case 3 was pretty fucking long as it is. Jesus Goddamn.
Case 5 will kill you. Of course, I can't remember if it was longer than The Adventure of the Unspeakable Story, which was fucking like 9-12 hours long.

Hell, I didn't realize either. I always forget since it takes so long to localize. Glad to hear it's good though, I liked DD a whole lot, so if it's better than that, i'll be thrilled.

Also, "Justice for all" isn't that bad...well, except for you know...the circus.

I'm fine replaying!!! It's just that Justice for All is so early in the series lol

SoJ is a vast improvement over DD. Just be sure to go into the options and disable consultation, since that disables the easy mode cheapout.

What was so bad about DD?
DD just suffered from a lot of... odd choices. DD was the first major Ace Attorney game in 6 years. AJ came out in 2007, DD came out in 2013. There was a lot of pressure to follow up AJ, which was received mixed by the general public because it focused on newcomer, Apollo Justice, rather than Phoenix. DD returned Phoenix to the main cover, and the name "Dual Destinies" made it seem like it'd be half about Phoenix and half about Apollo, who is the most popular character in Japan.
DD introduced a third character, Athena Cykes. While well received generally, the game itself is a bit of a mess. It's more about Athena than anyone. People were upset that Apollo wasn't getting much development. We had yet to know his backstory and how he came to where he is now. We know bits and pieces, such as his friendship with Clay Terran, but that was it. Another complaint was the streamlined difficulty. Ace Attorney was never too hard but it did make you think about what you were doing. What to press and what to present. DD did away with free investigations, only giving you important places to investigation. So non-important chatter between characters didn't really exist in DD. The filler cases are rather weak as well. DD is not a bad game or a bad AA game, it just falls flat on expectations especially since it had been 6 years since AJ came out.

The title "Dual Destinies" refers to Athena and Blackquill. "Apollo Justice" wasn't about Apollo, either. It was named after him and he's the player character, but that is Phoenix Wright's story.

SoJ is a serious improvement in almost every department. Every case has been a blast so far [currently going through case 5. I know nothing about the game, I went into this one pretty blind] but I can't say anything about the game's story as a whole yet since I'm still not finished.

how are the developments of apollo and athena!! without spoilers
