We are not selling games, we are selling a license to participate in our online entertainment event.

You're never going to win. I mean it's great to attack and cause pain, but understand that's the only possible outcome (outside of extra-legal activities for people that actually want to still play dead games).
Attention citizen, do not resist. Do not attempt to bring the change you want to see. Give up and go back to willingly being abused by the corporations. You own nothing. You are happy. You will fail. You will never win. Give up now. It is hopeless. Continue buying games.

Understand that people like you are part of the problem. Have you done anything to stop this reality from happening? No, you did fuck all, and now that someone else is trying to do something you're telling people that they won't accomplish anything. And then what, you're gonna go back to rotting in your bed, doing nothing and complaining how everything is going to shit?

I don't understand it, are you like Patrick Bateman? Do people like you are just filled with hatred and pain to the point where you want to actively inflict it on others? Because that's the only thing I can get from mouth-breathing takes like these. If you hate everything and don't want for anything to get better, just end your life. Seriously, it'll alleviate your pain of existing and will save the others the pain of having to suffer hearing you speaking.

Yes, I have given zero dollars to games that secretly require an internet connection.

I'm happy that AF is doing this and trying to take legal action against games companies, and I hope it hurts them. But that's all it is is a ridiculous hope. There are too many legal ways around whatever legislative guards that get set up, and too many normies that will continue to buy shit no matter what. I think having a realistic and informed take is more useful than oblivious optimism.

You can hate me and the companies that produce this shit all you want, but you know that hate is misplaced.

It's ridiculous to think that "I don't want for anything to get better," just because I think a legal strategy is doomed to failure, but if you think I'm the one with pain of existing, then you're probably projecting.

You literally quoted me saying it's great to attack and cause pain (to the people pushing this shit), AND putting out the best way to deal with the problem (extra-legally) and yet go on some kind of insane rant and tell me to kill myself. OK, man.

Gamers Nexus has a segment in their latest news video talking about Ubisoft's removal of the game The Crew. He gives Ross a mention, and hints on a plan on making a followup on this ordeal.

Ross commented on that video:

confirming my initial thought.

Update from the UK side of things. He actually got a response. Don't get you hopes up about the response. The UK is a shithole for a reason. If the petition goes through they would have to debate it.

Gordon's admission letter is obscure lore.
You could have found it on the Combine Overwiki for the past 12 years at least.

Dunno if that was mentioned, but the "marriage" does seem sketchy and done only to get a permit for ross to stay in the country.
I probably would be somewhat concerned if my wife reposted such images and called herself "CEO of Pretty men :3", especially taking into account Ross being more of rugged dude. Maybe it's normal for a western retard, but for a Polish woman this is... concerning.

I know your post is old, but women loving gay shit is a universalism.

Hellhole bureaucracies sometimes work when you manage to pass some law before anyone notices and it's too late to fix. Though UK care first for it's aristocrats, then illegals and the actual working population only exists to fund it all.

According to people in the comments, even if it does get 100k signatures, all they're really required to do is set up a meeting, have a couple people attend, and then shrug and say "nothin' we can do." The odds of their bringing this before the entirety of Parliament for a longwinded discussion is basically nil.

Still, the most important part of the response is that consumers can't make an informed decision if they don't know how long a game is likely to be operational after purchase, and Ross highlighted the vast difference in how long an online-only game remains operational (Lawbreakers lasted a year while Guild Wars is nearing 20 and still hasn't shut down). In the case of The Crew, Ubisoft said that expiring license agreements with car companies and/or record labels were one of the reasons for its shutdown, which means they should have known based on the terms of those agreements how long the game would be able to stay up and running. Withholding this information from consumers is against UK law...but there are a bunch of other legal questions that still have to be answered.

Government operates at a much slower pace than the tech industry, which is how they've been able to get away with shit like this for as long as they have. In an ideal world, we would actually own our software and not have companies legally be able to take it away whenever they want to, and games would have a sensible end-of-life plan that would allow people to continue playing them after official support ends. Sadly, we don't live in an ideal world, so we have to go about this in the slowest, most annoying way possible that may or may not even work. But hey, it's better than nothing.

Accursed Farms:
Small update on UK: "The Petitions Committee has considered the Government’s response to this petition. They felt the response did not respond directly to the request of the petition. They have therefore asked the Government to provide a revised response." https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/659071

I didn't know that can happen. Maybe we'll get a better response? :optimistic:

Ross posted an update:
2 important points in short:
  • European commission: Received 2 separate direct questions via two Pirat Partei MEPs and their answer is they probably doesn't want to handle this case and wants the actual countries to take this one.
  • France: Good news with DGCCRF is taking it to the highest offices and taking longer to respond since it's so complex.
The rest are more unknowns and for now it's mostly waiting for government actions/responses &/or until Citizen's Initiative kicks off to get votes for that petition.

Hopefully we'll still get a halloween and christmas reviews.

Its a good thing Civvie11 and Majuular fill the void while Ross is leading his mold legions against the megacorps
I can't really think of many reviewers who manage to scratch the same itch of full on stream of consciousness. Maybe Manadlore with the more insane games like Mystery of the Druids.

Everyone else are either too formulaic, meme filled or autistic.
