The virtue signaling is so thick here. Abby is still a self centered brat who is almost thirty and has put her parents thru hell, and still responsible for her actions. Regardless of mental health, we all have choices and she could have gotten help much, much sooner. She’s said she’s been in therapy before and has access to treatment for years with her parents resources, and they’re fuckin morons for not putting their foot down.

It’s really weird to see people trying to take the moral high ground on a site that was originally made to discuss, document and make fun of crazy people. There’s loads of schizoactive, bpd, whatever the fuck else crazies who never hit their mom as adults because someone said something mean online. Anyway she’s just gonna go off her meds again and continue cycling, hope the next phase is one with a skin care routine.

Nah, though it would be funny to see. I don’t know if it could be removed without leaving scarring and some residue though. It might not be worth it for her to pursue removal but there’s lots of makeup that can help either way.

I kind of agree and disagree with this. I feel bad for anyone with severe mental illness, because most of their crazy shit it out of their control. In the case of schizophrenia it can absolutely ruin a persons life and take away their whole identity and replace it with crazy. But I think a lot of people don't seem to realize you can be mentally ill and a bad person. I don't think Abby is the worst person on this site, but I do think she's a bad person. I think she knows attacking her mother is fucked up and wrong... but she does it for the same reason any other abusive mouth breather does. Because they figured out hurting someone gets results. I think she's content to go off her medications whenever she can because she knows there are no real 'bad' results for her. She'll get the high of getting attention online, her parents will continue to support, house, feed and enable her, and when it gets too nuts, she knows her parents will bail her out, maybe send her to some kind of in patient center when she's tired of the wild ride, and she'll start it all over again.

Realistically, I think the only thing that's going to derail this cycle is her parents kicking her out. That's what gets a lot of people like Abby to start taking treatment seriously, when they're suddenly faced with the reality of becoming a semi-normally functioning adult, or possibly ending up under a bridge somewhere. But they're never going to do that.

I know you know this from your other posts but mentally ill people are more likely to be the victims of abuse then the abuser. While psychotic disorders make life incredibly difficult, it is possible to live a somewhat manageable life if consistently treated. If this was a 30 year old dude flipping out and hitting his mom over Internet comments he would be mocked like anyone else. Look at a adf, he’s a literal tard with tism and a whole host of issues who hit his mom over cosplay, just look at any mentally ill cow we have.

I agree with the latter part though, and it’s great she has a support network and safety net just like it’s great she’s taking her meds right now but the way she’s handling things comes off like she’s just hiding behind her diagnosis to deflect criticism. It doesn’t mean squat unless she keeps it up and changes her behavior, while she’s still putting their lives out there instead of staying out of the limelight, it seems disingenuous, I don’t hate abby, if anything have a soft spot for her and really want her to do well in life. At the end of the day she’ll repeat this cycle indefinitely and she’ll be choosing to do it.

The phases are funny to laugh at, but I suddenly have a lot of compassion for this girl. It's not white knighting, either. Mental illness can seriously ruin people, and it sounds like Abby has a very dire case fueled by delusions and manic episodes. There were some moments of true clarity in that first video, and I don't think even the meanest of people can't help but feel sympathetic when you start understanding how much even she sees the negative impact of her illness. I don't think she's vindictive, just sick.

I don’t think she’s what most people would consider a “good person“, she’s very well aware of her illness and uses it as a deflective shield for her horrible behavior instead of committing to getting help, as well as using it as a core defining trait like the phases she goes through like toilet paper while parading it around online like a circus act. And she’s rude and snippy towards even the most oblivious white knights that, for some reason, want to be her friend or connect with her. She doesn’t want support or friends, she wants the limelight on her and only her, everyone else can fuck off unless they’re in the picture. I wouldn’t call her a narcissist, but she definitely has narcissistic tendencies.

But. Whether or not she’s a nice person, I agree with you that it is genuinely saddening to watch her in the rare moments of lucidity she has where you can tell there’s a genuine struggle going on inside that chemically unbalanced brain.

Maybe she has a personality disorder... but I feel like I shouldn’t mention that in case I end up encouraging it and all her “phases” become her personalities.
 
Poor Abby. There are times I genuinely feel sorry for her since she didn’t volunteer to be this mentally ill, but then I have a moment of clarity. I realise she knows she’s this mentally ill and doesn’t take her treatment plan seriously outside of an inpatient program. It’s her choice. She’s an adult and one of the first things she did was contact the warthog. She’s cycling again and honestly I don’t know how she’ll ever function as an adult outside of a group home. Her parents clearly can’t control it. She clearly can’t control it. That’s why there are group homes.
