A gas explosion completely destroyed a house in the Christchurch suburb of Northwood.

A gas explosion has completely destroyed a house in the Christchurch suburb of Northwood.

Nearby residents said they heard "a large bang", and were showered with bits of pink batts from the house.

The gas explosion came from the reticulated gas supply, Fire and Emergency New Zealand said.
INJURIES

Emergency services were responding after multiple people were injured. It sent six ambulances and two managers to the scene.


St John said six people have been injured, ranging from serious to critical injuries.

ROAD CLOSURES

The house exploded on Marble Court, and nearby houses have been evacuated. Around 50 residents were evacuated from their homes.

Police is assisting with the evacuations and road closures in Northwood.

Motorists have been advised to follow diversions and avoid the area

Honestly if there was ever a sign to GTFO of New Zealand this whole entire year has seemingly been a constant barrage of God telling you to leave.
