On /pol/ at least, the people Christposting and complaining about trannies are not the ones posting tranny content. It's mostly the MGTOWs and Incels threads and posters who got on board with it.

About half of the Christposters don't actually know half a shit about any denominational doctrine and just affect some vaguely-Orthodox/TradCath attitude because they think it makes them cool/gives them a good excuse to be racist (when Christian doctrine is explicitly anti-racist, both in foundation and in practice; Christianity justifying racism was a brief and contentious phenomena focused mostly in the mid-19th century South). I'd say a quarter of the rest are just autists who are attracted to any Manichean doctrine that doesn't actively chase them off. And there's a pretty big overlap between incels and Christposters (given how many of them talk about how Christian Theocracy is needed because women today are all roastie whores etc.)

Notice that I didn't say they wanted to fuck trannies. They feel guilt about something and project it outwards, or just think that by affecting the appearance of the morally-righteous they can deflect suspicion. It's like how most strident radfems are femcels, Male Feminists turn out to be sex pests (or just obviously desperately horny), and SJW-types are bullies who want to feel like they have the moral high-ground when picking on someone.
 
Trying to make sense of which subgroup of anonymous LARPers believes what on /pol/ is a complete waste of time.

As far as april fools gimmicks go, this one is pretty good at actually making people have fun again instead of participating in an endless culture war.
