So far as I know he's moved on which is probably for the best. With luck, it wasn't to something even worse than this.

Have you tried using frontends? Freetube is a desktop Invidious client that rips videos directly from YouTube and plays them without having to go through any of Google's bullshit, and Redlib does the same for Reddit. I use both regularly.

I was optimistic when Hiro bought the site because we had some of the best April Fools events and new boards but then around 2018 they just completely gave up on all of it. Last notable development was being able to buy a pass with money and not bitcoin.

Some days I would love buying 4chan from the owner, because it can't be that difficult to put it back on the rails. The only truly annoying thing is the spammers, but the rest can be dealt with range-banning the whole of south-east asia and finagling something to detect other languages than english in the browser and check it against a blacklist to block brownposters.

The April 2025 hack was the final nail in the coffin. Saw someone try to make a thread on /x/ about premonitions/inner voices, that kind of thing, the replies were:
