Can you be more specific? Like what is the issue is the plastic not coming out of the nozzle? Is it a sticking issue? Cura settings?
I tried everything then found out I just needed to set the z offset to 2.x. Now it works perfectly.

It’s not DRM, it’s basically a NFC tag so when the spool is loaded into the AMS it can be recognized. It’s stupid and gimmicky but far from DRM. It’s more just like a serial number and a hash to verify the product. It also barely works lol. My AMS and others I’ve seen never recognizes the NFC tag.

The real point of contention should be the lack of third party slicing software support. The Bambu Studio software isn’t that great. While it is open source, having Cura support would be much better.
Considering how many reprap projects there are out there as well as fully foss brands (prusa) and aliexpress drm free 3d printers exist we are far from having 3d printing become like inkjet printing, so long as the community doesn't sacrifice convernience too much.

Edit: I even just tried petg, which wouldn't work out of the box on my ender 3 v3 and not it just magically works. Not clue why or how but it just does now I guess.

I had an Ender 3 V3 SE for a while and it was the biggest pile of dogshit I have ever wasted money on. Constantly had issues with the bed not leveling properly, fans not working, hotend temperatures going haywire and so on. I've spent more money trying to fix it than I did on the printer itself and I feel so relieved for having finally gotten rid of it.

I have an ender 3 and I feel like it has worked pretty well. It's miles better the the Chinese prussa clone I had before.
I added a glass bed and don't think I have done any other upgrades, really don't ever mess with it.

But unless you are buying a top of the line printer you are going to have to be prepared to do some mantiance on it. It's like owning a old car. Expext to have to pop the hood and tune up the carb or replace a few parts evey so often.

If you want a hands off experience I hear the bamboo printers are nice. Probably what I would go with if I ever feel like upgrading.

Bambu labs machines produce some beautiful, high quality prints but large pieces of the toolchain are closed source. Not something to buy if you want to be able to tinker with your machines.

Sadly the way of things. Just got a Prusa Core One, source is still available but it's mostly hacking unfriendly these days with a bunch of cloud and other crap. Some day I'll replace my Creality K2 Plus with a Voron most likely. Luckily both the Core One and K2 can be used without the cloud crap or the vendor slicers. Except maybe the K2 CFS for filament switching, which I never bothered to attach.

What printer companies are worth buying from in 2026? I've heard Bambu is working on shilling out everything you print to the government, supposedly to make sure you're not printing guns, but we all know that's a lie.

Prusa. Get a Prusa Core One instead of an X1C. https://www.prusa3d.com/product/prusa-core-one/

I don't think Bambu is doing quite that yet, (They're a Chinese company), but yeah there are a few sus things with them. I run mine on a travel router LAN with no capital I Internet connection, one of these GL-MT300N's

Love me Bambu A1. Simple as.

I do need to finish working on my EnderWire, I just can't be fucked to finish it when I have 50 billion other projects going on in my life lol.

You don't need anything more fancy than an A1 and a hardened steel nozzle and a good drybox setup. *Maybe* a print tent, but even then I really haven't used mine much.

I've printed PA6-CF25 *plenty* with my printer and it's just fucking fine lol. Just print slow, hot and ****DRY**** the fuck out of the filament. I'll personally shill for the PolyDryer.
