not much info yet but some kind of major police op in Germany. Rumors of a Gunman.

German officials were treating that as the first attack with a jihadi motive by an asylum seeker on German soil.

  • At 5.52pm, gunshots were fired at a McDonald’s near the Olympia shopping centre (OEZ) in the northern Moosach area of the Bavarian capital.
  • A video appears to show one of the gunman on the rooftop carpark of the shopping centre.
  • A major police operation is underway. Police have said that up to three suspects armed with rifles are being hunted. No one has been arrested so far and officials have no indication of the attackers’ whereabouts.
  • Police have said all shoppers have now left the shopping centre.
  • The German government has set up a crisis response unit.
  • Residents have been warned via Munich’s smartphone warning system to avoid public places, stay in their homes where possible and turn on the TV and radio.
  • Munich central station and underground system is closed and has been evacuated. Motorists on the motorway into Munich have been asked to clear the road for police and emergency service vehicles.
  • Hospitals throughout Munich are on emergency alert and in “catastrophe mode”.
  • Police have said they could not confirm earlier reports of one or two other shootings elsewhere in the city, including in a large square known locally as Stachus.
What we don’t know:
  • No claim of responsibility has been made and there is no indication so far of the attackers’ motives.
  • It is not yet clear how many attackers opened fire or whether the shootings, described as a “rampage” by police, amounted to a coordinated or planned attack.

On CBSN their CIA correspondent says that assuming the attack isn't connected to radical Islam is "naive".

Reminds me of Brazilian news reporting on a anti terrorism raid against a Islamic state group and 2 of 12 of the suspects fleeing to Paraguay because of it.
Also journalists kept asking the police on their methods of violating the WhatsApp and telegram encryptions :stress:

CNN has just said that it's not confirmed persay as Islam, but that it's probably Islam, and that ISIS probably provided weapons. They're also pointing out bavaria is the migrant dumping spot.

Also they are educating me on geography, and that McDonalds is apparently American! Like I'm a fucking 5 year old, because CNN can't got 10 seconds without inadvertently calling their viewers retards. At least they aren't trying to dazzle me with 3d graphics yet.

They're good for video feeds of things, but really once their people start talking about things you might as well mute it. If you can read words on screens you are equal to anything they can offer.
 
At this point all I really feel is frustration that the people in charge aren't doing shit, I mean seriously how often times have we heard "perpetrator was being watched by police" or "was reported but no-one did anything" or something like that DO YOUR FUCKING JOB ALREADY Jesus fuck

Europe hasn't felt safe in a long time and these constant fucking bullshit excuses and handwaves aren't helping
