At the same time, I don't think he'd be advocating for release of te files during the campaign if he was actually in them in any real way.

Trump had actually been noted as not really bringing up Epstein in 2024 unprompted and being somewhat reluctant to release any Epstein files. Back then he'd also talked about not wanting to release aspects of it due to the "phony" stuff in it (as he put it).

"You don’t want to affect people’s lives if it’s phony stuff in there"

So even then he was sorta acting odd about whether he'd actually release anything, much the same as he has been in recent time.

The adage of motive, means, and opportunity must, in this case, be applied to the suspect and also to the victim. Did Jeffrey Epstein have all three of them as required to commit suicide while in a high-security federal prison? Or instead, has the government fabricated a series of improbable explanations, all of which must be accepted, if one is to conclude that he killed himself?
First to the question of motive. It strains credulity to believe that Epstein, reputedly a despicable criminal with vast resources, would rather have killed himself than used those resources to escape punishment. Motive, instead, seems abundant to his many enemies. They could certainly profit from, and perhaps are profiting from, his death.

Then what's your excuse for the files that have already been released? It's pretty darn clear from these that Epstein doesn't have shit on Trump. It seems like he was banking on Virginia to do it but when it never happened, he gave up. He didn't expect Trump to become President and for not having any dirt to one day bite him in the ass. Everyone and their sister was coming to him for dirt and he had none. He wouldn't have to try to get his echelon to after Trump for petty financial crimes if he had anything genuine.

In fact, how much you want to bet Alvin Bragg and his DHS boss had communication with Epstein directly? He mentions Mar-A-Lago being bought with dirty money, allegedly. That would explain why Judge Engoron literally just made up fiction about real estate to go after Mar-A-Lago so hard. He was corrupt judge and DA who had connections.
