Because a judge signed an order sealing and redacting those files. Neither POTUS nor the AG can just unseal them without going through the courts.

That is, if we’re talking about the grand jury from the original Epstein case.

It’s important to remember that Epstein was never convicted of running some kind of pedo ring. He was convicted, and later again charged with flying girls out to his island and having sex with them for money. That was what the trafficking was about.

It’s perfectly believable that they don’t have A LIST and that there isn’t a whole lot of evidence implicating other people, since they likely never investigated that.

(Giuffre made a lot of claims in the media and in civil suits that were settled, but we don’t know what she told the cops, and there’s good reason to believe that she never really brought up other people.)

Now as to what happened with the CD Roms they supposedly found of people having sex is a good question. Or if they ever even existed.

It's not even really that unreasonable to not be able to release all the files, the weirder thing is really just the way he went about refusing. "We're not releasing this stuff because rape is a difficult crime to prosecute this far down the line and the main people involved are dead, so we're not confident in prosecuting others and don't want to encourage vigilantism and deal with all the red tape" is a disappointing answer especially when you've campaigned on releasing the files, but it's a far cry from "Actually I will NOT release the files stalker child and you're stupid for caring about those instead of dying for israel."
