It's like he's in Skinner's box. Pressing that bar over and over, he gets nothing but a headache and negative attention. Eventually the rats realized that pressing the bar would not always produce food or stop the electrical shock they received.

He's so bound and determined that sketch is worth 1000 dollars, he won't rest until he has that money in his hands.

What's with the Persephone comment? Is he referring to the
Greek
goddess
?
I was wondering the same thing. Is he turning neopagan? Does he identify with a girl who was dragged into the underworld and is forced to stay there for most of the year? Is it from some piece of entertainment like the oxygen thing? Is he just really, really goddamn stupid?

Chris said that Persephone thing for the same reason he says any fucking thing: he recently heard it in a tv show/children's movie/video game.

I love how he thinks he's holding everybody to ransom by demanding $1000 before he lists more "reasonably priced" drawings, when in reality, he's just screwing himself out of a bit of pocket money.

"A thousand bucks or nothing!"...... ok Chris, nothing it is then!

Don't know if this update merited its own thread, so I'll post it here:

It's back up again: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191216311183
I've lost track of how many times it's been, but as time time I looked, it already had 27 offers in. He also seems to have changed the description slightly, but who knows if it'll be enough.

He still thinks it's worth 1K, but what I'm interested in are what the 37 offers were. I can guess that some them were probably weens( the ones with less than 10-15 points I'm assuming), big shocker. What I'm wondering though is that knowing Chris has stalked our forums before needing to know exactly what people are saying about him on a regular basis, and I recall at least one of us mentioned that his wish list amounted to about $1000. So is it unreasonable to assume that he may have partly gotten the idea for the price from us in addition to weens running it up in the bids section? Whatever the case, Chris probably wouldn't be able to afford everything on the wish list even if he did sell the picture. What about sales tax or some retailers selling some of the kits for higher prices than they may be worth? Oh wait, this is Chris, so I think I just answered my own question.

Right now, 80 offers - and one (in the middle timewise) is pending.

He may be willing to settle for under $1000?

According to ebay it would cost me $201.95 in import charges to buy the drawing. I guess Canada has enacted some protectionist tariffs to ensure a local market for our own autistic sonic recolors.

So my ween insider has informed me that they have offered $700 and was instantly denied by seller (aka Chris). They then offered $800 and Chris responded by saying (through Ebay so I don't know how much was Chris induced rather than auto-Ebay message).... "The Seller JesusGuidesMe2 has offered a counterbid of $1000." there was some text under this message that read "Seller refuses to accept bids UNDER $1000. It is $1000 or higher ONLY"

This means that this "add to cart" is Chris's buy now; and it's the lowest he will go. His offers are only for those wanting to pay him more than $1,000... which doesn't make any freaking sense because if they were willing to pay more than 1k, they'd buy it for 1k and ...save... themselves money.

Chris has brought the price down to $500, I wonder if he has learnt anything from his experience?

Guys, I'm in Canada, and the shipping to here is roughly 15 dollars. BUT He is demanding an "Import Charge" of over $100.

I've ordered LOTS of stuff from the states, a lot of it being bigger than Chris' picture, and I've NEVER had to pay an import charge of over $20. The only thing I can think of is that since Ebay doesn't collect on shipping charges, they probably don't collect on import charges either, and Chris is using this as a way of squeezing extra money out of people. Because, you know, $500 for a drawing that likely took him an hour to do isn't enough....

It sounds like regular, run-of-the-mill scammers may be bothering him too - likely because of the bonehead price tag. I sold some old electronics on eBay about a year ago and shit was just lousy with "i give you 500 more if direct sell yes?"

He might be trying to get the price as close to the $1000 that he originally wanted. I think he knows that he cannot just ask for $1000 as the asking price, but lowering it to $500 makes it seem more appealing to a buyer (at least in his opinion). I see it as a hidden fee scam or something similar to that effect.

The insane import charge may be generated by ebay automatically based on Chris' description and the insane prices he has demanded for it. Normally Canada wouldn't charge anything to import something like this, partly because it's basically personal mail, partly because it was produced in the U.S. and falls under NAFTA and other trade agreements, but mostly because it's essentially worthless. However, whenever anything crosses the border that's supposedly worth $1000 or more, regardless of what it actually is, all sorts of Canadian Customs and GST gnomes perk up their ears.
