I honestly think we're over-thinking this one. It's a cheap $5 Lego set, probably sent to him by a ween. As for Chris' part, I really don't think that Chris understands what "irony" is and mixing it up with "sarcasm." Further, the thank you I'm pretty sure it's just a smug Chris "thank you" which translates into "whatever."
Well, no, he's saying Alex bought him something again. That's a big reason why I think this is bullshit.

Ah, OK, I found it.

Last time he bought himself stuff and claimed a troll did it was in October, 2013:

And same day:

I think this is akin to, if anyone has worked in the food business will know this, 'sweetening' the jar. It's a practice where you put money of your own into a tip jar in order to look successful and prod people into putting their own money into it. 'Hey, someone bought me Lego! You can too!'

No, I know Chris (or "Alex") was referencing that picture, but I wasn't sure if Chris would dig up that quote on his own, thereby making a case that Alex might actually be a real ween. (Of course, a real ween wouldn't think to use that quote either.)
I'm not so sure about that. Very Honest Content brought up a very good point here in the time lapse thread. The tryhard / ween who made the time lapse video has gone by the name "Alex" and made sure to use an antique bellows camera in that time lapse video to photograph 14BLC. Any tryhard / ween who remembers something like "Old-Fashioned Accordion Camera" from Chris' JenkinsJinkies foolishness will definitely remember "haters to the left". Also any tryhard / ween who would bother to make that time lapse video would have no problem shelling out $6 plus postage for a small lego set for Chris. It's astonishing to me the lengths to which some people will go to "troll" Chris (or the forums); at this point I wouldn't put (almost) anything past them.

I still think it's very probable Chris bought this set himself and is using it as bait to try to get gifts from the internet, but I think he would also use any real gifts he received as bait as well. I'm not sure Chris would think to invent some of the extra details in these bait posts of his like a name for an imaginary sender. It's possible someone going by "Alex" really did send it to him, and Very Honest Content may well have sussed who "Alex" is.

I bet that Chris probably wishes he had a working DeLorean so that he could go back in time to his high school days where he was socially cool and awesome or whatever he called it...oh wait.

Also, who is this Alex guy anyway?

I don't think someone would dig up haters to the left for no reason. Haters to the left was, of course, a line Chris used. But there are many, many more well known cwcisms. It seems a lot more random for a non-Chris person to use that line, than for Chris to use that line.

Chris gets gifts and doesn't say a thing about them. Of course, I don't know how many of those are lego sets. But still I don't think Chris would think to use real gifts he's gotten. I mean, he might, but Chris is less likely to think to drum up more gifts when he's already getting gifts. It's when he's having to buy them himself, that he's thinking to drum up the free gifts. (But if this was sent by a ween, it's a small gift, and Chris wants the big ones...)

I don't think there's any connection between the time lapse guy and this. Pretty sure the name Alex was made up by Chris.

Now, the one thing that's making me wonder if someone got Chris this, is the quoted line is "Haters to the left. Get that money, Chris". When I first read this, I actually didn't notice that it said "Get that money, Chris". Heh, I've looked over it multiple times and not noticed that. I guess I just looked over the post and and saw typical Chris nonsense. But yeah, that line's the only thing that makes me wonder.

But of course, all the other stuff I've pointed out, still stands. So now I'm wondering, did Chris encounter that phrase somewhere and incorporate it? Random access humor? I don't know.

It seems that if a troll really sent this to Chris, he'd say thanks and then immediately follow it up with some shitty comment about trolls or how the CWCki should still be taken down. Give him an inch and he wants a mile and all that. When he buys shit for himself in the guise of a hypothetical "troll" he just says thanks.

Also includes a little patter, like he's trying to puff up this "trolls" status as a real person. I mean, it's only one sentence, so I might be reading too far into it, but it just seems pretty easy to tell when Chris is actually being honest, because his inner entitlement comes out. But when he's trying to be friendly, it's only him being friendly to a "troll". And only for the purposes of getting more legos.

I dunno. "Haters to the left" is well known enough to have its own smiley: :left: And it's used in more or less a correct context, which seems more something a ween would do. Chris is less likely to use the expression correctly even though he's the one who came up with it (AFAIK). I also don't see where it's become a common expression of Chris', and I can see a ween remembering it better than Chris himself would. I think Chris has only used it the one time on a sign.

I think that could be just it, though. Chris doesn't want piddly little $6 sets; he wants nice, big $200 ones. If he's only getting little sets as gifts he might very well use them to try to get what he really wants. I think that if Chris were to buy a lego set to use as bait for giving the internet the right idea of what he wants, he'd use a big set, not a little one, because big sets are what he really wants. That or his finances are so fucked that piddly little $6 sets are all he can buy, but then that goes against the theory that he bought another couple hundred dollars in legos expecting to get a few grand for his drawing auction.
I don't think there's any connection between the time lapse guy and this. Pretty sure the name Alex was made up by Chris.
Again, I dunno. I think that Chris just randomly pulling the name Alex out of a hat at the same time a tryhard willing to put the effort into a time lapse jumps also named Alex also jumps onto the scene is just a little improbable. Then again, this Alex might be in contact with Chris, and that might be where Chris got the name from.

That it's grammatically and punctuationally correct is what makes me wonder if Chris really came up with it. Also that it's relevant to Chris' current financial woes and his insistence on a ridiculous sum for his drawing.
But of course, all the other stuff I've pointed out, still stands. So now I'm wondering, did Chris encounter that phrase somewhere and incorporate it? Random access humor? I don't know.
I'm thinking it's probably 55/45 whether Chris bought this for himself or a ween did. If it really was a ween, well then I have a pretty good idea who that ween might be.

Probably, but then Chris knew the care package was coming from the forums (which are the same as the CWCki to him) while he may view this lego gift as coming from an ass patter. Would Chris make the same demand if he got a gift from Anna? (Not that Anna would actually give him anything.)

Also Chris seems to be concentrating a lot more on getting legos and his feud with ebay lately than his feud with the CWCki.

Is Chris still doing the Lego voodoo thing? If he was buying a cheap set I could see him choosing this one since it has little bundles of cash in it. All he's gotta do is shake them over the drawing and it'll sell straight away!

Nah, pretty sure we came up with that. Haters to the left is only as well known as it is because it has a smiley. I don't think weens who would send Chris stuff are too immersed in cwckiforums culture. Possible, but it's more likely Chris came up with that part.

Chris wants the big ones, but if he got a free lego set from a troll, he wouldn't see it as "how can I ramp this up?", he'd see it as "aha! my efforts to get people to buy me stuff are working!" Now, if he got like dozens of $6 sets, yeah, he'd start pushing people to go bigger, but that's not what's happening here.

Well, he buys his big sets on credit. Whenever some credit is freed up, he buys more big sets. He probably had a few bucks on him and bought that set in the store.

Oh, I'm almost sure if a ween bought this for Chris, it wasn't the time lapse guy. But that guy's name is Alex? Link to some info on him?

He probably pulled the name Alex from anywhere he'd see it. Maybe weens commenting on his facebook or emailing him. Could be anywhere.

I'm thinking it's probably 55/45 whether Chris bought this for himself or a ween did. If it really was a ween, well then I have a pretty good idea who that ween might be.
This situation is really weird. There's strong evidence in support of both theories. To me, the best evidence that a ween bought this is the "Get that money, Chris" line. Everything else about this is super Chris-like.

Then Chris was copying the forums when he did his tomgirl sign?

Well one of them was immersed enough in Christory to remember the Old Fashioned Accordion Camera comment.
Now, if he got like dozens of $6 sets, yeah, he'd start pushing people to go bigger, but that's not what's happening here.
Well he is pushing people to go bigger regardless, what with $400 sets on that ridiculous wish list "needs list" of his. But yeah, I don't think lots of weens are sending him lots of legos, but I do think it's possible one has.
Well, he buys his big sets on credit. Whenever some credit is freed up, he buys more big sets. He probably had a few bucks on him and bought that set in the store.
I think one of the reasons why he's so upset lately is that making minimum payments on maxed out credit cards doesn't pay off enough principle to reduce the credit balance enough for him to make the big purchases he wants to make and has become accustomed to making.
Oh, I'm almost sure if a ween bought this for Chris, it wasn't the time lapse guy. But that guy's name is Alex? Link to some info on him?
Super Sexy Action Furry did the homework and posted his possible name etc. here. Apparently time lapse Alex has gone by the name Alex "Romantic" Temple, though that is possibly just his nom de ween, not his real name. I'm just going by what Super Sexy said. It was Very Honest Content who thought of the possible connection between time lapse Alex and lego gift Alex here, which seems like it could be a possibility to me given the other things he has done.
He probably pulled the name Alex from anywhere he'd see it. Maybe weens commenting on his facebook or emailing him. Could be anywhere.
It seems a little too coincidental that he would pick that particular name, but yeah, he may have thought of it because time lapse Alex has been contacting him, not because time lapse Alex actually sent him any legos. Like I said: 55/45.
This situation is really weird. There's strong evidence in support of both theories. To me, the best evidence that a ween bought this is the "Get that money, Chris" line. Everything else about this is super Chris-like.
Well everything we get from Chris is super Chris-like because it gets filtered through Chris. I can see him buying himself "gifts" and then lying about it to the internets (because he's done exactly that). I can also see a particularly erudite ween sending him this lego set with that message (because weens have also sent him gifts). The only question is if Chris would publish the gift and message from an actual gift just like he has for his own purchases. I think it could go either way.
Maybe someone with a youtube account should just ask the maker of the time lapse video if he's been sending Chris legos (though I don't know if we could expect an honest response).
Of course it doesn't really matter too much either way. Either Chris is pathetic for lying about legos to try to get more legos, or this Alex is pathetic for buying Chris more legos (and Chris is also still pathetic for using that to try to get more legos). I'll laugh at both.

If they know enough to know that he wants Legos, there's a decent chance they know about :left: . Also, if I was going to send Chris a Lego set for LULZ, it would definitely be an inexpensive set, which this one is.

Or, it could be a combination, like someone really sent him a note that portrayed him as a bank robber saying "Get that money Chris!" and then Chris added :left:. Because I don't understand what the motivation would be for Chris to be that self-effacing about his begging. It's really unlike him.

Right, and if he saw that one has bought him one, he'd see it that his current plan is working.

Well, the Alex who sent Chris the legos wasn't calling himself Alex Temple. He was calling himself something else, if indeed it was him who sent Chris the legos. And this Alex Temple fellow has called himself Alex in the past, I don't think he's doing it nowadays.

So, to sum it up, of the evidence I have, I'm almost certain it's not the time lapse Alex that did this. Of all the evidence I have, it seems like Chris is making this up. But still the "get that money" line gives me doubt that Chris did this.

"Haters to the left" is a line in christory, but weens go for the most obvious, popular cwcisms. (:julay:, anyone?)

Sure, but the line between Christorian and ween can be mighty thin, as we know from the "I'm Batman!" call.

Also, would Chris even remember "Haters to the left?"

Trolls made up that line.
Ah. I thought it originally came from some television show, Chris parroted it from that (as Chris is wont to do), and the trolls saw and ran with it.
Right, and if he saw that one has bought him one, he'd see it that his current plan is working.
Which may be a stupid thing or cunning. I'm not sure. On the one hand Chris would be cunningly encouraged to make an ass of himself begging for toys, but on the other hand Chris will make an ass of himself regardless; the ween just stupidly pissed away $6 plus postage to encourage Chris to do something he does anyway.
So, to sum it up, of the evidence I have, I'm almost certain it's not the time lapse Alex that did this. Of all the evidence I have, it seems like Chris is making this up. But still the "get that money" line gives me doubt that Chris did this.
Yeah, there's something not quite right about this one, but I don't know if it's really worth worrying about. Either way weens and Chris still fail.

Maybe we're witnessing the next phase in ween evolution?

If I remember rightly :left: was added to replace the default arrow smiley.

He'd be more likely to remember it than a ween.
