It's worth noting that they technically rebooted the series with Casino Royale. People will fight about whether the Bonds are the same character, but there was still continuity (albeit loose) between the films from 1962 - 2002, but now Daniel Craig exists in an entirely separate universe that could never be consolidated with the old.
Basically, the writing was on the wall by the end of Brosnan's era, so they got a few more good years out of the series by jumping on the reboot bandwagon. But rebooting the series again? I'm not sure if that's going to work on audiences again.
Also, while Roger Moore was still alive, he wanted to have a meta entry that combined all the previous Bond actors. Wouldn't have been anything Oscar worthy, but it would have been a lot more fun than anything they're planning on putting out.
