You know, that got me thinking. Has Lindsay said anything about how black people need to join in on the protests after Renee Goode was shot? I've been seeing a few white people saying that and I can't help but suspect they have another reason for wanting blacks on the front lines.
They want black people because that's how you (traditionally) got the actually destructive riots. And not just black people but American black people, Somalis aren't gonna do shit but have groups of teens steal cars. Your university educated, northern European liberals of Minneapolis are a long way from their Viking ancestors and don't really have the drive to boogaloo. They'll whip out their phones and rape whistles and scream SHAAAAME, they'll follow random cars and harass them, they'll even spray paint FUCK ICE (it used to be FUCK 12 aka cops but that was so last riots) on buildings, but the real destruction is not their forte.
Fun story: during the St. Floyd riots in 2020, there was a hotel near the epicenter which was closed down for renovations (the Sheraton Minneapolis Midtown). Our intrepid virtue-signaling rioters broke in and turned it in to a homeless shelter during the riots for both homeless and rioters. The homeless trashed the absolute shit out of the place in like a week, and the cops did nothing about it because even the sci-fi/mystery bookstore across the street from the hotel had been burned down at the time, a true tragedy. After a week or so, the "activists" who had broken in and made their "pop-up shelter" as
Mother Jones so cutely put it, begged the Minneapolis city government to take over running their completely illegal homeless shelter because they could not handle the reality of actual homeless people and their actual destructive insane junkie tendencies. Finally, the cops went in and evicted everyone. The Minnesota Reformer, a tiny local rag with a far left lean,
covered the aftermath (though again, despite the headline, the hotel was not abandoned, just closed for renovations. The owners were PISSED.)
All this to say that you need to understand how the genteel rioters of Minneapolis see themselves: they are better people than you and you are trash. Their response is to try to help people in the least functional way possible and expect to succeed on the power of their good intentions, and when that inevitably fails, they expect the same government that they curse and decry as fascist every other day to pick up the pieces while they move on to the next feelgood cause du jour. For the ICE riots, they see themselves as the last bastion of good, moral progressivism in a country ravaged by Trumpist authoritarianism. They aren't paid (for the most part), these are actual Minneapolitans going out and doing this in their strangely copious free time because they think their cause is just, and they are willing to sacrifice their lives to protect those poor black and brown people with the power of their white privilege. Every person with a camera thinks they are Daniel Pearl (but less Jewish, of course).
Lindsay can't say shit about it. Best she could do was drunktweet on Bluesky and bitch about body cams like COPS didn't exist for decades and scratch the same vicarious itch.
