Hallo, it is me, Lorgor, and I have come bearing gifts in the form of these screenshots from a super sekrit DM chain where certain individuals (moids) were having some NSFW conversations, which is absolutely surprising given the pearlclutching of some of these upstanding individuals during #BPGoonergate.

If you want a cynical view of things, anytime an artist draws SFW of a furry character of theirs it is just build up to the NSFW. Like the plot to a porn movie.

Their friends, yes! You won't see this as much on public platforms but if you are something like a roleplayer or you just have friends you do other things online with and you are particularly autistic (IMPORTANT!) and have tendencies to self-insert drawing SFW furry related stuff is appealing.

There is not a centralized fandom, and if there is I haven't been in it. Broader overlapping interests, yes, but unless you are on twitter and hound that shit constantly everything is really disconnected.
Your point about there being no shut-in gems or deeper community probably comes from where you are looking? If you are on fucking tiktok or twitter looking through #furry of course you are going to have to trudge through a horrid muskeg of people trying to earn money. If you really want to find gems you need to look in places other than one of the biggest fucking platforms of all time.

That's not official, it's an infamous DeviantArt fancomic "I will Survive", but most people know it as the "Zootopia Abortion Manga".
It's still viewable here on DA by the original author, but it's hidden unless you're signed in.

TL;DR: It’s about Judy accidentally getting pregnant after sleeping with Nick. She tells Nick she plans to have an abortion because (1) she’s worried it would affect her job, and (2) they’re different species, so she fears the child would be a messed-up hybrid mutant. Nick reacts by ranting about wanting to keep the baby. Judy slaps him, then immediately apologizes. Nick goes on a pro-life rant and then breaks up with her.

To me, the funniest thing about the comic is that their apartment inexplicably looks just like Seinfeld's apartment:
