There's literally fucking seizure glitches.

How did the game ship in this state? I was expecting a fun remaster of Colors that I would pick up when on sale, instead I got another Cyberpunk-esque disaster for a wii game.
And I don't mean how did the game ship on Sega's side, obviously they rushed it out the door. I mean how did the fucking platform holders allow this through? Nobody's talking about this, but how did Sony allow this to go live? How did Nintendo allow this go live? How did Microsoft allow this go live? (EDIT: Apparently the seizure glitch is switch exclusive, and extremely easy to trigger. If you were unfortunate enough to pick up the game on switch, DO NOT HOP BETWEEN PLANETS QUICKLY TO CHECK YOUR RANKINGS OR RED STAR RINGS)
When it gets to the point the product can actively hurt the consumer, when does the regulation come in?

I honestly half expect the game to get pulled from digital storefronts like Cyberpunk did when one too many reports of a seizure crop up.

One guy admitted to playing the game on an emulator and people are running with it to fuel the copium devices.

God, I fucking hate twitter. I fucking hate consoomers, despite the fact that there's multiple people posting seizure glitches, this one guy comes out and says he emulated the game and all of a sudden the seizure glitches are fake.

EDIT:
The guy I showed in my earlier post definitely was legit, as he posted from "Nintendo Switch Share", meanwhile this ExtraKotaru guy posted from the regular old "Twitter Web App"

Also, another guy posted a capture playing from the switch of another seizure glitch.

In other words, copium really is a thing, huh?

EDIT 2: Live footage of the most popular posted seizure glitch happening in real time and having the capture feature used. Safe to say it's real.

Edit 3: Footage of the glitch from the first edit playing undocked.
(no epilepsy warning needed because the guy doesn't show that part)

God this game is a fucking mess.

Well, Sonic was always too big to fail; even if something like that bug in Lost World that spawns you outside an gated arena after you die didn't stop them from buying it. But running it on a emulator is such an convenient excuse because it absolves the devs on any responsibilities...But now they're admitting that they pirated it and that they can't get it to run on an emulator.

Only question, at this point, is what is a deal breaker for these diehards?

All of them are circlejerking about how the guy made the game look bad and the glitches aren't real.
But since the glitches actually are real, this guy did Sega a favor. Now anytime anybody points out the actual glitches, they can just get attacked with the spam of "EMULATOR, NOT REAL".

I don't know whether to find that hilarious, or to be dissapointed that this is even a thing.

Edit: More glitching in real time, the guy was trying to prove that the glitches were happening on hardware. I've got no words for this one, this shit is baffling.

I guess Sega saw that Sonic Colors was somewhat well received in its day for a 3D Sonic game and decided to put in more in line with the rest of the 3D titles.

The cause has been found for the seizure glitches. Apparently it's exclusive to Switch for some reason, so I guess exclude what I said a few posts ago about Sony and Microsoft allowing the game on their storefronts. Doesn't mean the game isn't a buggy mess on those storefronts either but it's par for the course nowadays for buggy pieces of shit.

What causes it is hopping between planets a bit too quickly for the game's liking.
Yes, something that could easily be done by somebody trying to 100% the game, to check red star rings and rankings for each world.

Or, imagine this, it's late at night and you've just finished up the game, deciding to 100% it. You hop through the planets to check what ranks and red star rings you need, and you go into a stage afterwards and get a fucking seizure.

It honestly kinda breaks my heart to see the game in this state. It's one of my favorite games for the Wii, and in my opinion one of the best the system has to offer. I've been wishing for an HD PC port since, but it appears yet another finger on the monkey paw has been curled.

Guess I'll just stick to playing it on Dolphin for now.

Some people are claiming it's only occurring on the Yuzu emulator, but that just plain coping. Colors was only dumped 4 hours as a homerip, so the people reporting on the issues are the suckers who pre-ordered it and got the early access on actual consoles.

Game's out for everyone now.
Can't wait for people to get seizures in the switch version from Sega's negligence in playtesting their product. At least it'll make the dumb people stop parroting that stupid lie of "Oh, you have to try to make the glitch happen! There's no way somebody would go through several planets like that." Because they all secretly know that people trying to 100% the game are going to do exactly that to check what red star rings and rankings they need.

Normally I wouldn't get so MATI over it, but I'm fucking tired of people defending the seizure glitches with that dumb bullshit, this is something that can actually harm the consumer, even Sonic 06 didn't have that.

Here's another content creator adding his own thoughts on the shitshow.

You know what's the most insulting thing about this? This game's been patched to version 1.03 and it's still a goddamn mess. As the guy says, the patch notes claim to be "general bug fixes," but they don't go into detail on what's been fixed. Not that it matters since whatever the patch claims to fix amounts to jack shit.

This sucks since I never got around to playing Colors but a lot of people hold it in high regard, which is saying a lot for post-06 Sonic. Thankfully, the original Wii version is still stupid cheap; it's going for $12 on eBay right now. I might just go with that, especially since there doesn't seem to be any real difference outside of revamped graphics (and, y'know, the remaster playing like garbage).

12 bucks is a steal for the Wii original honestly, infact I'd say the price of the "remaster" is a bit much for the length of the game anyways, colors isn't too long, about 4-5 hours or so 6 if we stretch, unless you're going for completion.

I'd say grab it before the price shoots up from people opting for it over the "remaster"

Yea, that curse is called Sega and Sonic Team

From what the video @Massively Strong Greed linked, this looks like the Sonic Adventure DX fiasco all over again.
Sega is to blame for this, Sonic Team is not (as much as I would love to rag on Sonic Team)
They outsourced the project to "Blind Squirrel Games" who was also responsible for that infamously shit WWE port on the switch.

aaaaaaaand right off the bat we're fucked. Any company that promotes this shit as a key factor of their company means it's filled with nothing but wokeness horseshit, especially when they use Twitter/Tumblr language.

>crunch culture is toxic
Twitter/Tumblr words aside, I do agree crunch is bullshit. However, I have a sneaky suspicion that SEGA forced them to crunch on this one port just to get it out of the door in time. Between that, and point one above, I highly doubt bug fixing and optimization was a high priority point at all.
