  • A report sequenced samples of the lambda COVID-19 variant to see if it was resistant to humoral immunity.
  • Researchers identified a site at the spike protein’s binding receptor that potentially confers immune resistance along the lambda’s spike protein.
  • This study has not been peer reviewed.
The lambda variant, a COVID-19 mutation first identified in Peru that is quickly popping up worldwide, has been highlighted by governing bodies like the World Health Organizations (WHO) as a variant of interest. But a new study suggests that it may be resistant to some vaccines.
A preprinted whitepaper published in late July focused on the mutation that distinguishes the lambda variant, denoted as C.37, within its S protein, found in the cell’s binding receptor.
The mutation at this location on the virus is associated with being resistant to immunization efforts.
Using data from the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data database, researchers found three mutations within the lambda spike protein that could mean resistance to antibodies induced in humans by vaccines.
“Our results suggest that the resistance of the Lambda variant against antiviral humoral immunity was conferred by the RSYLTPGD246-253N mutation,” the report concludes.
The RSYLTPGD246-253N mutation, along with two other mutations identified when synthesizing the COVID-19 samples, specifically resists immunity from antibodies generated by the human body.
Notably, the study sampled genome sequences from South American countries like Chile, Peru and Argentina, where the lambda variant is the dominant strain.
Chile’s primary vaccine is developed by Sinovac, rather than the common Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna shots used in the U.S.

In short i dont give a shit and this article is useless.

What? I'm from Chile but never heard of Lambda. They're more worried about the Delta variant. I'm sure the study is only speculation at this point.

Heh, there's more world than your backyard, you know.

I'm surprised I even get to hear about the Lambda variant. Delta's been all the rage lately, and it was only two days or so ago, that I heard about the Mu variant... and anyone not familiar with the Greek alphabet, Mu comes after Lambda.

OPEN BORDERS, SAY HELLO TO LAMBDA. VACCINE RESISTANT.

I wasnt alluding to the location. I think its stupid to publish such articles about arguably the worst vaccine around, it doesnt exactly help build confidence and people are not gonna bother understanding the differences between the differenc vaccines. Sinopharm had shit stats from the start so its not exactly surpising that it would be the most affected by a new variant. Also its made by the chinese so everything said about is to be taken with a huge grain of salt in my book

I'm sure we gonna finish the pandemic with the Omega variant, the best destroyer of worlds.

I'm sure the Astrazeneca is the worst vaccine after Sinovac and Pfizer is better with older people.
You know what? I'm vaccined with the Chinese one and my dick isn't small yet or talking random Chinese words. But i must get a fucking 3rd shot. At least my body answered pretty well with the first & second shot.

Tbh some days I idly wish that it would go full Black Plague and wipe away this dead gay system of ours.

I wasnt alluding to chinese dick shrinking either, but on paper sinopharm has the "worst" protection all in all, that doesnt really matter if its all you can get and certainly better then nothing but global studies about the new strains and vaccine effectiveness should be done on the best vaccine we can produce in my opinion.

>inb4 we run out of Greek letters and start using Nordic runes

Here is the problem.
You all kept people in doors for largely a year, then you made them get vaccines who they admit will need boosters.
I love that as of now you are advised against mixing J and J and the two Rna vaccines.
How about we just drop these USELESS vaxx mandates and focus on therapeutics?
Cannot be that much of a danger in hospitals if they are made to get the vaxxine.

Thats how Nature works. An evolutionary arms race.

See, they took thr branding too far. "Delta" sounds scary. Mekong Delta? Delta force? Sure. Gamma was good.

Epsilon onwards just sounds a little silly. Lamda and Mu both sound cute. It's time to try scary numbers or something

get the jab
get the second jab
get the booster shot every three months
get the new variant jab
get the new variant booster shot every three months in addition to the old one
[repeat every time a new variant pops up]
