This just in: Manchester City is ready to purchase Cristiano fucking Ronaldo, with some sources stating it is a done deal.
Apparently, Juventus were kinda fed up with keeping up with him and his huge-ass salary, with no international titles to show up for it. They also refused PSG's offer, which they likely won't come up with a bigger bid.
What with Kane confirming he's staying at spurs, this one would be hilarious if true

Big if true. I'm not gonna lie though, I'm getting a little sick of the same few megarich clubs buying all the massive names, making allstar teams as though they were collecting football cards.

We're at a point now where you can probably list like 6 clubs that'll perpetually compete for the CL trophy each year for the foreseeable future, solely because they're rich, until some new club gets bought with oil money, and then they enter the fray. Barca and Real being the exceptions, because they're skint (although I'm starting to wonder where government backed broke ass Real are getting 160m euros to bid for Mbappe), but the prestige of the clubs are unmatched, so they'll always find a way to compete.

Europa League, albeit a less prestigious competition, is the only place left to see a healthy mix of clubs competing for honours. Unless, of course, one of the megarich clubs get dumped out of CL and enter EL, then it's theirs to lose.

Money has taken allot of fun out of modern football. And most sports, for that matter. Look no further than Wijnaldum for a textbook example of how money trumps all else.

Ronaldo to Man City looks like it's pretty much a done deal. The Champions League draw was also today, Man City and PSG are in the same group so Ronaldo and Messi will meet again at least twice. Probably the most epic group stage matchup possible, this should give you feels if you've been a fan of the game for the past 15 years.

Edit: Ronaldo to Man City is officially off. Man Utd is now the frontrunner. A return to Man Utd would also be pretty feels tho.

Edit: Ronaldo to Manchester United is a done deal. :story: This brings me back to a simpler time in life. As a Juventus supporter, I'm happy for Ronaldo and the Man Utd fans. It wouldn't have been right to see him go to City.

I'm so damn excited and happy. What a twist, something straight out of a movie script. From being on the cusp of tarnishing his legacy at Old Trafford to returning home a hero. This is an even bigger shock than Messi's move. Not even a Utd supporter but I'm happy for them. They must be on cloud 9 themselves.

What a great day for football.

I'm not gonna lie bros, it feels pretty bad to be a Juve supporter right now. First Ronaldo goes and now we lose to Empoli of all teams. Judging by that display and Allegri's straight up terrible subs I'll be surprised if we even finish 4th like last year.
I was pretty baffled by how Allegri lined up. Mckennie as a 10? Wtf was that? But I still have faith for this season. Rabiot was horrible but he's just back from injury so I think he'll improve. Locatelli will be starting soon and I expect big things from him. But Allegri has to keep Dybala as the 10 and Chiesa on the right side. We also need a consistent starting midfield. Once everyone is fit, it should be Rabiot, Locatelli, and Betancur/Mckennie. They did look like shit yesterday and a top 4 spot isn't guaranteed with Mourinho brining Roma back into the fold.

I think Barca's window has possibly been the worst ever. Can't think of any big W's for them

Pleased overall with West Ham's movement, only real miss is no striker backup. Moyes will probably go with Benrahma/Bowen as wide attackers, then either Vlasic or Fornals as a F9 of sorts when Antonio's hamstrings inevitably explode

Ignorant Yank here but was there any explanation for playing McKennie forward? Seems like his strengths are winning possession and coming in behind the ball in the box and being smartly opportunistic, primarily with his head on crosses. He was in poor form last night playing a more natural position against El Salvador, but his experience playing in Central America is limited and to be fair, none of our young European league players looked good outside of Reyna.

Might want to keep an eye on The Latics (Oldham Athletic) lads. The fans have been invading the pitch for the last couple of games and it's hilarious.
