MST3K actuMST3K actually made it a point to keep good relations with the people they did their works on and they paid their license fees.

I vaguely remember a stream Lindsay Ellis was on (with Lewis?) where Lindsay said if Disney or Warner Bros ever had a bad mood, they were fucked(this was around 2010-2013, or the salad days) and Linsday either mentioned or Lewis was there to go "Nu uh! Muh Fair use!" and Lindsay basically went "That's cute you think it works that way" and Lewis's arguement boiled down to "I asked my dad and he said what we did was legal, so there!"

TBH Lewis is probably in a better place fair-use-wise compared to his fellow "reviewers". The fact he is working from a print medium means he must scan and act out parts of the comics he wants to talk about. This means he uses only what's necessary for the review rather than the whole thing, and he is being "transformative" by transferring to an audio-visual medium. Plus, he is so damn whiny that his reviews can't help but contain commentary (read: complaining).

That doesn't mean DC or Marvel couldn't fuck up his day if they wanted... But chances are they either aren't aware, or do not care about the obscure internet guru shitting on 30-year-old comics.

That's still security through obscurity. If a bored paralegal at Disney found his channel and didn't like it and drafted two letters on the official disney letterhead, Lewis is fucked. That's how tenous his position is. Even if he's legally right(which I don't think he is, but that's not the point).

Since he shows the whole book usually I think he could be in a worst position then most other reviewers. He basically gives the book version of doing your film review while streaming the entire movie.

BUT I agree about Disney/Marvel & Warner/DC and him being too small of a bug to squash.

Lewis is a nobody in the Comic Book community. He's never mentioned not by creators or fans. Lewis' channel came to be when Superheroes took over the movie business and just to give examples Comicstorian and Comics Explained both rode the wave to now have over 2 million subscribers each while Lewis has under 130 thousand.

Again, this is likely to never happen. 1 in thousands. But then again the same was said for team four star. I just personally wouldn't want to live with that mountain hanging over my head.

Not surprising Lewis drifted towards that one tbh. It's the go-to for center to right leaning smoothbrains who want to pretend they're smarter than they really are. MovieBob also allegedly read it
Ayn Rand appeals to pernicious, sci-fi nerds who imagine that they can correct all the ills of the world, and resent the fact that ordinary mortals are not intelligent to understand their aims and motives.

Linkara brags about the money he got from doing a Power Rangers video.

$800? That's pathetic. Also he doesn't respond to YouTube comments on YouTube but on Twitter so his YouTube fans never see how much of a passive aggressive asshole he is.
It’s weak

$800? That's pathetic.
One thing more pathetic than bragging about money, is bragging about money and not even having much of it.

Someone resorting to charity streams to cover his taxes is not in a good place to act like some successful high-roller

Ya know what that $800 brag reminds me of?

Lewis, you are acting like Dan fucking Nainan.

AND NOW TIME FOR EVERYONES FAVORITE SHOW "HOW MUCH OF A BITCH IS LINKARA TODAY!?"

As you can see audience today Linkara has not only found a way to poop on his old employer who without them wouldn't be a blip on the radar, but ALSO decided to prove himself as "money over integrity" with his 800 dollar joke (btw 800 bukcs is what you wanna brag about?), but, decides to prove this person wrong by not responding to him on youtube thus saving poor Lewis the shame of being dunked on, but does it on his twitter AND THEN REPLIES TO HIMSELF! Oh but, do go on Lewis I do want to see just how much this did not bother you! ON NEXT WEEKS (who am I kidding I give it 48 hours) EPISODE OF "HOW MUCH OF A BITCH IS LINKARA TODAY!?"

What triggered this?
He watches all comments he gets on all videos of his and if he sees one he doesnt' like, he crops it, pastses it on twitter and responds ot it without letting the author know so he can 'own' them without them knowing or allowing them to rebutt, because THAT's healthy. His hugbox then goes "You really showed him, boss!" and he feels pride in owning a troll in deadly debate and combat without them ever knowing.

But, don't try going on his turf. His discord has psycho mods with a list of unapproved words like 'xomic book' and 'anyone associated with oneyplays'.

I've heard of other content creators being cagey about their numbers, only wanting to give ballpark estimates rather than actual numbers, because if they say it out loud they can get in trouble. Isn't Lewis under Screen Wave or is that partnership done with?

Also, $800 as a brag is the sign of a man who never made much more than minimum wage in his life.

HOPR is his top property. If his top property, after 3 weeks only amassed $800..., that means it's long in the tooth and he wont' be making much more off that video from YouTube revenue.

That's actually kind of sad. He makes, on average, 1 produced video a week. His latest HOPR is 6 times his normal produced video's viewcount, and made $800.

This means his average youtube revenue on his average video is around $130 a vid. He thinks he made a brag, but he just revealed a really fucking sad state of affairs for his finances. It's no "Dirty Crapped Briefs" moment, but damn. I mean, I imagine he spends like 8-10 hours to make a video. He just revealed he works for what YouTube is essentially paying him $13/hr a video, plus what Patreon is paying him. Fuck, I wouldn't be gloating, I'd be demoralized.
