In my opinion and from what I recall, while the Infamous Corn Reference was kinda what set Ralph off, it more had to do with what was going on the Farms at the time, and Ralph took a very exceptional take on what Null was saying.
I never liked Ralph, I never watched the Killstream for him, but I thought he could get a good mix of people on to his show and he'd pull me in for them. He wasn't the attraction, but he also didn't distract me from having a good time. The Corn Reference was in response to a big influx of people that I at the time disliked greatly, and nowadays still kind of dislike. I use Ralphalogs, but I dunno if Alog is quite the right term. They weren't here to laugh at dumb people, they were here cause they hated Ralph and fuck you if you didn't hate him too. And that hate would spread to those that associated with Ralph, largely Dick Masterson and lesser to Null. Dick and Ralph were both getting real worked up at the Farms and pissy at Null for not reigning the Farms in. And the Ralphalogs were abrading Null for not disavowing the Gunt.
I remember the Corn Comment basically being Null conflicted on this, he didn't want to step in on behalf of his internet fwends but he was getting shoved on both sides over it. He was saying "Do I bail on Ralph to have peace at home?" in fustration over this. Ralph blew the fuck up at this and made Null's choice for him, pushing him closer and closer to the Ralphalogs side with Ralph's own bitter petty attacks over time. Dick sided with Gunt, and Null believes it was him that directed Riley to drive the wedge between them over Digibro.
I didn't care enough about Ralph to notice a difference, but I'm still not sure if they saw something in Dick I couldn't at the time, or the trolled him into being a lolcow.
