Phil had one good friend whom he essentially drove away to the point that said friend decided that if any reconciliation was possible Phil would have to make the first step, and a girlfriend who needed to pressure him for an extended period of time to commit to marrying her and then shortly after he did so dumped his ass anyway.

A large contingent of Phil’s audience are disabled, mentally or otherwise, or suffering from arrested development just like he is and have no idea how much things cost and no impetus to try and find out for themselves. All they have to go on is Phil’s word and even if they don’t completely believe him it’s not as though calling him out would result in anything other than eating a ban.

What really gives him away, even more than that, is that somehow all of these fans think exactly the way he does. They keep giving him shit that only DSP would try to save his stream with. Notice how he's never surprised or insulted by WHAT the gift was? Compare that to when somebody sent him the platinum vest. He wasn't blatant about it at first, but he obviously hates it, and knows that the person was trolling him.
They could have fun fucking with Phil, but I'm not convinced that he would break against their efforts so easily. Especially after so many years of walking all over them, and his anger towards them today. He's sweating things, for sure, but look at what he's doing about them. Nothing that would actually help, just the same attempts to face-tank his way through this low point until the world gives him what he wants. Part of that is definitely out of spite, and would only get worse if the paypigs took things up a notch from the current declining tips.
His grift is that he's on the verge of being completly destitute so absolutely anything he spends money on that isn't food/water/shelter related will be questioned. (of course with him food includes expensive restaurant meals while being broke but I guess he feels that since food is needed, as long as its a "necessity" he can spend money on it).
Did he also not fuck up royal and state before that tweet that he had something like only $100 to his name? And that these two statements together meant that he spent three fucking figures on one meal for two people?
He didn't really imply that he was going to go hungry it's the subconscious flexing about blowing money over and over again hours before and after crying poverty begging cripples for their disability checks.
He didn't come out and directly say he's starving but saying something along the lines of "luckily I had money for breakfast but now we're waiting for my check" kind of implies he's saying he needs that money before he can eat again.
Dsp has never been relevant. Right now we're on a steady descent of his income, so plenty of squirming.
Phil is melodramatic about so many things, that I'm forced to think that before I think he's meaning to say what I think he is at first glance. This is the same guy who spilled a little bit of water on himself and ran to Katherine as if he just got annihilated by some neighborhood kids armed with water balloons and Super Soakers. He does not think before he speaks, and is very prone to exaggeration, like the manchild that he is.
Spending is a big part of the issue. DSP spends like he's still back in his glory days on youtube and refuses to even consider stepping back his spending. With what he's been making the past few years he easily could have put some money aside into and IRA or something like that to have a future, instead as far as we can tell he spends it all on mobile games and fast food. Is he as poor as he cries? Absolutely not. But he's likely spending his money as it comes in and living paycheck to paycheck even though he makes like 10k a month.
