Looking back this was probably a big part of me not becoming homophobic as a child or teenager despite coming from a pretty traditionalist background. The disconnect between the scaremongering about gays I heard, and the reality that middle-aged gay parents were just as boring and lame as everyone else, had a big effect on me and probably a lot of other people.

Puberty blockers are such a perfect metaphor for troonery. It's not just about refusing to mature physically, it's about refusing to mature emotionally too.
Troons haven't learned adult-level life skills--most especially emotional self-regulation--due to overly-permissive and protective parenting. Their bodies mature before they can handle it emotionally, and the response is to try and refuse to grow up, since the adult world is perceived as an awful place. Hence they see themselves as "girls" or "boys" and try to remove traits associated with maturity. The cross-sex characteristics they pursue are for the purpose of immature sexual self-satisfaction, not to be seen as an adult member of the other sex.
This is also why almost all troons are deeply emotionally immature too. Their psychological defenses are child-like: They don't accept responsibility and blame others for their failures, they prioritize their own desires over others, they expect to be taken care of, they value escapism to an unhealthy degree, and they have no interest in building a career or growing up as a person. They want to remain immature adults.

A couple months ago I saw it again, and when I saw the word cloud of names in the top left, I was curious: which names are the most popular with troons? So like any sane Kiwi with too much time on their hands would do, I started an experiment that's still ongoing: I've decided to read this thread from start to finish, documenting each first name (a lot of them you can find on the profiles on Reddit or Twitter) to see from the samples which names appear the most frequently. I've avoided all duplicates to the best of my ability.
I just reached 500 pages so far, a little more than a sixth of the whole thread. I had three separate lists, one for FTMs, MTFs and non-binary people, though the MTF one was by far the biggest, as the others only contained a few names apiece.
This is the visual of the data so far for the MTFs. There were more than 200 different names, but the word cloud only contains those that appeared twice or more.

I suspect there'd be a lot of overlap between the FTM and NB names if that was ever to be done, as a lot of the FTMs seem to love names that are/could be seen as gender neutral, as opposed to the hyperfeminine choices of MTFs.
