This is probably the worst, most harmful attitude I've seen from a trans person.

Why would you want someone with an eating disorder and/or self-harm to have gender dysphoria? Turning them into a lifelong medical patient and telling them it's possible to turn them into something they're not and can't actually become doesn't alleviate mental health problems, only worsens them.

I seriously don't see how transgenderism is any different from giving anorexics diet pills, laxatives, and amphetamines to be their "authentic selves". Anorexics have this delusion that they can finally be happy if just reach the "perfect weight", but that's not possible because of the nature of the disorder. How is that any different from selling the fantasy/delusion that one can become the opposite sex via hormones/pills and surgeries and finally be happy and free from mental health issues?

Amphetamines and benzos are also miracle drugs for teenagers by the same standard (temporarily helping the symptoms of their deeper problems) so sure, let's just hand them out to 13 year olds too, fuck it.

Edit: ninja'd above. But considering the effects of testosterone supplementation on heart health, I would not be surprised if amphetamine use actually turned out to be safer long term. Stop gatekeeping speed for middle schoolers, bigots.

I think their reasoning for why stuff like amphetamines and anti-depressants are bad but estrogen and testosterone are good is simply that hormones are natural and they think Natural = Good, Artificial = Bad.

Late, I know, but when reading about this horror show, I recall some source I can no longer find saying the baby's name, "Ne Gunet" literally just translates to "The Baby". Could just be a pseudonym but way to fuck up your kid from the beginning - refusing to acknowledge his/her biological sex and not giving the kid a proper name. That's one way to raise a future serial killer.

A couple months ago I saw it again, and when I saw the word cloud of names in the top left, I was curious: which names are the most popular with troons? So like any sane Kiwi with too much time on their hands would do, I started an experiment that's still ongoing: I've decided to read this thread from start to finish, documenting each first name (a lot of them you can find on the profiles on Reddit or Twitter) to see from the samples which names appear the most frequently. I've avoided all duplicates to the best of my ability.

I just reached 500 pages so far, a little more than a sixth of the whole thread. I had three separate lists, one for FTMs, MTFs and non-binary people, though the MTF one was by far the biggest, as the others only contained a few names apiece.

This is the visual of the data so far for the MTFs. There were more than 200 different names, but the word cloud only contains those that appeared twice or more.

That’s impressive in this way I just can’t manage to put words to. In honor of your work, some thoughts on it. Jessica is a really popular Gen X name, as most of those that made it in the cloud you created are, too. Some appear a bit more Millennial era, & so on down the generational groupings. The Gen X names easily slide right into what has been called, “romance novel” names, versus the side of the troon popularity coin toss of “hooker & magick/ elemental” names. It’d be interesting to see age averages in your data set.
Only big surprise is the utter lack of Lilith, in that utterly impressive word cloud project. (Wouldn’t worry too much about questioning yr project, as it’s a long term thing & most importantly, way better than crazy shit such as trooning, etc.)
