This is honestly unprecedented. Even the Vietnam pullout wasn't this bad, the South Vietnamese lasted two years, weathered one major offensive before having their aid cut off and their economy skullfucked by the oil crisis. The US saw the writing on the wall and pulled out the last refugees and embassy personnel out of Saigon as the NVA were entering it, not completely fucking up and being stranded in the city having to beg them to let them leave in peace.
