Handholding can only get you so far in Hades it seems. Died to an obvious poison mechanic that he was spoiled about from his chat earlier and lost two revives. Lost to Hades phase 1 because all he does is spam his attacks without thinking.

That would mean that nearly his entire income is from people directly sending money, either through a monthly bill like patreon or memberships, or through straight up cash through PayPal/SuperChats.
Except it isn't. It might be a greater majority of it now, but when Phil was still in the Twitch partnership program, he got thousands a month from Twitch. He himself confirmed it, albeit in an attempt to assert that the de-partnering hurt him enough to justify raising the tips goal. Not in an actual admission of his income being way more than what he claims. Still gave himself away, though, because simple math means that if he got thousands from Twitch, any of the thousands he got per month in tips was pretty disposable, not essential.

He really does not think before he speaks, especially when he's either pissed off, flexing, or trying to having it both ways.

Too bad he never plays real business sims or at least something with an integrtal business section like Football manager or Transport fever or even Cities:Skylines. He would be broke faster then he could say "I declare bankruptcy!"
I would love for him to play a business related game. Just to see him rage quit after the 5th attempt where the screen flashes you went bankrupt as he loses would be priceless

Just let me check, you know sometimes people tip behind the scenes.. guess no.. oh wait! Bobbajo tipped $23 taking us VERY CLOSE TO THE VEST GOAL! Please tip if you can guys thanks!
It's weird how SilentBob, OneMinuteMan, Nocouture, etc never tip at the same time.

Must be a really weird coincidence!

I like to read. That way I won't be distracted by random sounds, moving objects or an ugly pig face, for exemple. My experiment was to write down Phil's definition of "advanced trap".

Question: What is an advanced trap?

Phil: "I would argue an advanced trap is more about recognizing a trap that's set in...in...in having hand-eye coordination to react to it. Beginner's trap means you can't react to it cause you don't even know it exists. I didn't know that I can get poisoned and immediately lose my health without healing right away. There is no way to know that until it happens. That's a beginner's trap. An advanced trap would be more like 'Oh you are in that room and there is a spike trap that you fall, you walk on and it hits you.' That's more of a standard trap, you know what I'm saying?"

Me: I don't know what you are saying.

Advanced trap = Easily avoidable damage
Beginner's trap = Damage that killed DSP

You remember that famous scene from Indiana Jones where he happens upon a giant sign that says “WARNING: TAKING THE IDOL WILL TRIGGER A LARGE BOULDER TO COME ROLLING DOWN”?
That’s what good trap design is. Traps are supposed to be obvious and not at all hidden.
Everyone knows that.

We can add 'flabbergasted' to the words he doesn't know the meaning of. He must think it means

sometimes he does make me laugh

Pre-stream - thanks his chat for help and almost like he's begging for tips begs for more help
Twitter at break (I assume I didn't watch at work) - brags he got to the last boss already and he's either good or luck
back from break - I can upgrade weapons? how do I do that?

I'd be amazed that his biggest fan OIC and the 500 sock accounts that live in his head doesn't see this but DSP and OIC are really like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle retarrrrrdumb, just how long till OIC makes phil put the cowboy hat on with a tip message "you complete me"?

I mean, he’s still progressed farther in the game at a faster rate than a good chunk of people who have played it, I didn’t make it to hades until my 15th run and got my first escape next time at 16, and that’s pretty damn good. From what I’ve seen I think most people don’t escape until like the 30s.

so the handholding and guides he’s probably looking up are definitely giving him a massive advantage, especially in a fast paced game like this, where Phil’s boomer reflexes usually fail him the most.

I figured it wouldn’t take him long to cheese his way through a bulk of the game, but I didn’t expect it to go this fast for him considering the general incompetence he’s shown in so many other games

How did he not use it right there? Chat is shocked/surprised he’s doing so well at the game, which is how I’ve always heard people use flabbergasted

Does anyone know if you can enable god mode, in a game you already started?

Also, he told us that he had been looking up "builds" and when he started playing Hades he already knew about Darkness.

You're not fooling us Phil, you are just using guides to cheese your way to the finish line, and the fact that anyone would be "flabbergasted" at you being good at the same is hilarious.

You suck at every roguelike, so I am going to have to doubt this heavily.

EDIT: I see him beating it since he has the guides and people feeding him the most optimal stuff, but it just defeats the point of the game.

If you learn how to beat a rogue-like by reading guides online then you might as well not play it.

The point of these types of games is to learn through playing it and adapt, but Piggy doesn't have the patience for that, so instead we get a boastful boomer who somehow is "good at the game."

This reminds me of Last of Us when everyone was looking forward to that ending stealth sequence because he's notoriously shit at stealth and then he somehow just breezed right through it.
