I realize I’m a bit late on this post, but I just saw the clip of Phil making his “Look out! It’s a black woman, AHH! She just steals the backpack and runs away with it… ACK ACK ACK” joke last week.
This may be one of the most perfect examples of Phil COMPLETELY not understanding satire, and humor in general. I mean, it goes without saying that Phil is about as funny as crawling through a field of razor blades, but this is so much more. And this isn’t about me being offended. Honestly, nothing really offends me. Any subject can be funny if put in the appropriate context.
Anyways, if the characters in that part of the game actually were racists, then Phil’s “joke” would have been in the proper context. Would it have been funny? Of course not. It’s Phil. But the “joke” would have been at the expense of the racist characters. As it is, the butt of the joke is the random black chick walking by.
The actual hilarious part is when Phil says (after some chat members started calling him out on it) that his joke had nothing to do with race… Phil… that is literally the only relevant aspect of your comment.
I really can’t tell if Phil really thinks he was making a clever satirical gag, or if he realized his joke flopped and it was basically him just going, “Hey look out! It’s a dirty nigger! Hide your stuff! ah AAH ACK ACK!” But, if I had to, I’d put money on Phil thinking it was brilliant social commentary because Phil is the biggest fan of his own jokes based on how he ACKS after every attempt at humor.
Aside from all of his recent begging, this is one of the best recent clips of Phil. It’s a real honest glimpse into his psyche. It’s also just more evidence that Phil is completely brain dead when it comes to humor. He doesn’t understand that “racial” humor from shows like South Park, or Family Guy, or whatever, are poking at the characters who are ignorant racists. Phil’s definitely not the only person who doesn’t understand the context, but he is the one who sure seems obsessed with putting things into proper context when detractors allegedly mis-interpret the shit he says.
