This. People like Butts have been raining shit on edgelords that have done no less wrong for quite awhile now. Even if you accept Butts' narrative as factual, what's happening should not be unexpected.
 
Upon reflection, this article does seem to be an admission that the chat logs are authentic. There's certainly no portion that argues they are doctored in any way. In fact, Butts doesn't argue that they were hacked, but instead were leaked.
 
No matter how weak the "edgelord" defense I guarantee the white knight squad will take this and run with it. All vindicated in that their defense of a pedophile was just and all those that won't take "I was an edgy trans teenager" as an excuse for objectively terrible behavior are all still shitlords who devour CP at an alarming rate.

Fashion. Suffering discrimination is fashionable. The person who can claim to have suffered the most is the most fashionable in the room. And the closer you are to the fashionable people, the more fashionable you are yourself. Think about it: does a day, an hour, hell, even a minute go by where, somewhere in the world, some fashionista isn't the focus of a scathing article about how shit awful a human being they are? And yet, people still wear their clothes, their hair, watch their movies, buy the DVDs, hell, even buy the same breed of cat or dog that the fashionista carries around in their over sized handbag. The SJW movement is about power and suppression and group think, absolutely. But I'm willing to lay a hefty chunk of my yearly salary that a large percentage of the followers are only following because everyone else is following.

Humans are social animals, and every social animal in the world has to conform lest they be kicked out of the tribe to starve or be something else's food.*sigh*
