I honestly have to say that it is amazing that this near 20 year old Dodge Grand Caravan still runs, especially Chris driving it from Ruckersville to Richmond. I know some people had these Caravans and they were shitboxes even when new. A lot of them have long gone to the junkyard and are starting to get kinda rare.

The police aren’t going to impound it when it’s on private property. It’s really up to the motel since it’s their parking lot. They probably contract with a tow company and can have it removed if they want. Then it’s between Chris and the tow yard.

I mean, the police could impound it, get a warrant, and search it if they really wanted to. But why? They have (or will soon have) all the evidence they need. There’s likely nothing substantive in there, and it’s not like this is a high profile murder charge where they’ll leave no stone unturned. They have more important shit to do than deal with his car.

Also, are we sure it wasn't already damaged from Chris' terrible driving? The rear fender on the same side is gone. He could have just backed into something.
 
Note says "Airsoft Al Was Here - Sneed". Makes sense because the passenger side has several chips in the windows, dings on the doors and fenders, hole in the tail light. Someone peppered it with a BB gun.

Say somebody DOES catch whoever did it, would they be liable for theft and destruction of property?

If it's the motel's responsibility to tow the car, what's taking so long for them to do it?

You're probably dealing with multiple fags here. Someone who shoots it with a bb gun from a distance is likely too chicken shit to walk up, see what size socket or screw driver they need, and take the license plates.
 
In the end it doesn't really matter at all because nobody is going to come for the car and it will be towed away. So this may be an unpopular opinion but good on the ween for getting a epic souvenir because the plates would be destroyed anyway.
As for the damage I don't think they did that because it seems too minor to have been vandalism.
