Based on the statement from the sheriff's office, mens.

He seems to be in the county jail, which is a bit different. It's a medium-security (maybe even lower considering how it's described) holding facility for people who need to show up at the county courthouse, not a genuine prison. I can't find any evidence one way or the other on sex segregation but it seems to be the only jail in the entire county.
